Hiya How about looking at self employed/business owner visas?? You might not have enough track record but it could be worth a shot.
calNgary Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Hiya ,have you had a chat with an agent? there have been lots of changes with the visa class lately and it is making it harder for people without qualification certificates. Most agents wont take you on or take your money unless they know you stand a pretty good chance of gaining a visa.Have a chat with Visa Bureau or Go matilda both are reputable companys who get lots of good feedback.good luck Cal x

Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 ill get you a job when you land email me Hi Alfie, Hi Tony Alfie’s central problem is the recent closure of Skilled Pathway D by Trades Recognition Australia, since Alfie says that although he has a lot of welding experience, he does not have any formal qualifications and no evidence (presumably) of an informal apprenticeship either. Therefore one has to work through the possible alternatives step-by-step to see what else might be viable for the person concerned. I actually think that Alfie would get more value for money from a Registered Migration Agent if he has done some fairly detailed research himself first than if he has not. Step 1: Would a positive skills assessment under one of the remaining TRA Pathways be possible, even if it means delaying the hoped-for move to Oz in order to comply with the requirements for Skilled Pathway B instead? Please see the following links: http://www.gomatilda.com/news/article.cfm?articleid=424 http://www.gomatilda.com/news/article.cfm?articleid=432 Note – it is well worth reading the official documents that Alan gives the links for as well as the articles themselves. Step 2: In Alfie’s case, if Step 1 does not seem to be viable, he says that he has been running his own business for the last 18 months. OK – would a visa be possible under the Business Skills route? This is a two-stage process, involving a period of temporary residence to start with but if the business flourishes in Oz, it can offer a pathway to PR. Please see below: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/index.htm Step 3: If neither of the above is viable, then consider Employer Sponsored visas as the third option. Again, this is a two-stage process. It would most probably involve a 457 visa to start with and in the absence of a positive skills assessment there would be no way to avoid waiting for two years before an upgrade to PR becomes possible. Please see here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/index.htm The three steps above can be taken in any order. For a welder, my Step 3 would probably be the easiest route to Oz initially because the sorts of employers who use welders in Oz tend to be familiar with the idea that if they wish to attract skilled foreign workers, they are probably going to have to help those skilled workers to obtain visas for Oz to begin with. Alfie, if you were to take Tony up on his offer, the chances may be that you could go to Oz on a 90 day ETA and get the 457 visa ball rolling from there. However, from your own point of view that would be expensive plus uncertain. So, Tony, please would it be possible for you to have a word in the relevant ear and to talk up the notion of the relevant welding company offering to sponsor Alfie for a 457 visa followed by an ENS visa, please? Best wishes Gill
