Family sponsor question?

Hi all,

 

Can anyone tell me how long i have to be a permanent resident before i can sponsor

my 18 yr old son to come and join us in oz......We will be entering under the ENS visa.

As far as I am aware you have to be a resident for 2 years before you are eligable to sponsor anyone.

Some visas require sponsor to just be resident in Australia some require sponsor to be resident and "settled" before sponsoring. Some family visas, like the Remaining Relative visa, require settled - this is usually after 2 years living in Australia although lesser periods can be considered. With the Working Holiday Visa now available for up to a 2 year stay, it is usually this visa or a student visa that keeps the family together in the mean time.

 

I assume DIAC do not consider him to be dependent on you and have not asked for police and medicals from him in relation to your ENS application ?
