Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi it's me again. These are the questions I need answers to. In July I came down with pneumonia. I am ok now and my lung xray was clear with no scar tissue. I also had that scan with dye to find blood clot and it was clear. I am 42 with no previous health problems. My consultant was delighted at my progress but could the pn go against me anyway. Anyone else had similar? Thanks. Flo
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Flo Since you have made a complete recovery, it will not affect your visa. However, it does mean that the Panel Doctor will have to tick Box B on your Meds Form 26. This in turn means that your meds wil have to be referred to the MOC (Medical Officer of the Commonwealth [of Australia]) for an Opinion about whether or not you meet the medical criteria for Migration. Unless you are able to give the Panel Doctor an up-to-date report from your consultant (no more than 2-3 months old) confirming that all is well, the MOC will ask for one. That will potentially cause delay. I recommend that you get copies of everything that the hozzy aad the consultant sent to your GP whilst you were ill and then whn you were recovering, the hospital discharge report, anything from the consultant plus an up to date report from him. Give the whole lot to your Panel Doctor, who will decide what to send to Oz and will return any left-overs to you. Cheers Gill
Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Oh God. My gp says that i am more likely to get it again as I had it in the first place. My consultant says I was just unlucky and no reason to get it again. I suppose that's a dilemma!
ali Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Flo, Contact your consultant at the hospital (or his secretary - they're usually brilliant), and say that you need a letter to take with you for your medicals saying what was wrong, and that you've recovered. Give this in when you go to your medical. I collected mine from the hopsital. By the way my daughter had pneumonia when she was younger and has never had it since. I took along consultant letters for myself and my son, both of us had renal scans, I'd had the xray with the dye too and I still show unexplained blood in my urine everytime they do the test - but the consultants letters said - this was the problem, this is what we've done, all the results are ok, no further treatment, prognosis good - our medicals cleared right away without being referred to the doctors of the commonwealth (probably 'cos of the info we provided). Hope this helps to reassure you Ali
Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Thanks ali. It heps a lot. I might want Oz but Oz might not want me if I'm not up to it. I so want this now. Flo x
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Flo "Might get pneumonia again" is not a valid reason reason for rejecting anybody - even if aged 95 - on medical grunds. Stop worryig and follow Ali's advice, honeu. Cheers Gill
