Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I just wanted to say thank you to all on this forum. Our minds are made up and I have no tears today (well not many). To anyone new, somebody said on here "the most difficult thing is making your mind up" and it's true. Once you can see yourself on that plane the rest just follows (and I am speaking as a non flying person). It has been the most soul searching week of my life. Yesterday, upon waking, I wasn't going. Too far - too many creepies (not the people) etc. Within an hour I was going and that feeling hasn't changed. Me and oh had deep conversation last night and this morning. I have said I need to get the ball rolling to feel it is real and not just talk (as we did this about France) but don't really know where to start. Be brave all you 40 somethings with several kids in tow. Remember the feelings you had when you were in your 20's and just go for it. I have wasted the last 20 years here in sunny Bolton and I am not going to waste the next 20. I do have loads of questions to ask the seasoned expats but I will put them on the appropriate threads. Good luck to every one of you and just to say TODAY FEELS GOOD. Flo.
Guest peppa Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 hi flo so glad you made that decision.. It is scary as its a huge change, but a good change keep focased and positive and ask as many questions as you like (I have!) the best of luck in the visa process. x
Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Peppa. Thank you for your reply. Questions! I have many but first and foremost is what do I need to get ball rolling. I can't afford to make mistakes. People here talk about all sorts of forms and I am getting a bit muddled. Can you or anyone else help? Many thanks. flo Still feeling positive!
Guest billy braveheart Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Flo Congratulations on making the decision to come over. I think its the hardest decision of all well done you . Now what visa etc are you thinking of coming on we are all here to help. Janette
Guest kdal Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 HI Flo, So glad your feeling good about everything now. First thing you need to know is can you get there?? i.e. have you or your OH got the trade / skill that is on the demand list to get you there? If I were you I would telephone an agent to get some free advice and see if they think it is possible for you to go. You dont need to use an agent (although we did) but you can get some advice from them first. Sorry you may have said on one of your other posts your situation but I cant remember. So start your questions on a thread and see what the people on PIO have to say! Good luck
Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Thanks all. All I can say is I feel weird. There's something about seeing the light that makes you that way. I know that sounds odd. Don't know how long it will take but got to start now and tell family after Christmas. I think we would get in but there are obvious hurdles. OH is a lawyer which is not on demand list so we need to be somewhere where he will get a job whilst I am sorting out domestics etc. All you have to do is see yourself on the plane. That's what I keep telling myself. Now I know I don't want to stay here (never have really) I feel true. That's a huge thing and I'm sticking to it. I won't muddle up threads but I will be asking lots of questions. No.1 To actually begin, do I need an agent or can I get one if I get stuck. Worried about cost of agent. OH might be lawyer but we are not wealthy by any stretch. I am a full time mum. Regards. Flo
Guest Flo Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Billy Braveheart. I'm sorry to sound thick but I don't even know what the visa question means. I want to come over to live there forever so what sort of visa am I applying for. I have never done this before at 42 years of age and yes I am struggling. Don't write me off as senile just yet though. I'm a slow burner but I get there in the end. Flo x
Guest kdal Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Flo Not sure how old you Oh is but the cut of I believe is 45 years of age. If you are not on the skilled list I would recomment you to call an agent to get some advice on how you can get your visa and residency. If you are not on MODL list you may need to get sponsored by a company in Australia in order to move there. Maybe start a thread saying Can we get a Visa to Oz and then write all about yourselves i.e. what your occupations are and if you have family in Australia etc.. and then maybe someone can help you. Good luck
