Guest mandy&Jem Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I know this is too late but may be of help any how!!!! This information was part of an e.mail sent to me this morning from immi.gov in relation to my 573 student visa application. Dont know if this applies to all visas? .............When the medical outcomes have been finalised and hopefully, cleared, we will have the potential to grant your visa application and advise you of the outcome. You should not travel to Australia until you have received notification of the grant of your student visa. If you decide to arrive in Australia before the grant of your visa you will need to lodge and pay for a new student visa application onshore.....................End of message!
Guest theweekshousehold Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks Its been ok'd you can come in on a holiday visa but have to leave the country again & come back in for it to be auth
connaust Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Are you sure of this advice? I do not see it that way....does DIAC actually state that you must leave Australia to authorise visa? AL1 citizens can apply from onshore from tourist visas etc. and also revert back to tourist visas etc. etc. that is why you are AL1. We had an AL1 earlier who took first study visa offshore from Slovenia, went to Oz, started study, dropped to a tourist visa under advice of DIAC after finishing first block of study and changing provider and waiting for CoE on further study, then doing study visa again......but expensive on visas.....
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Hi Andrew I've exchanged e-mails with the lady concerned (the student sister). DIAC managed to lose the paperwork for her student visa but have now found it again. Her course starts on 28 Jan. Since it was DIAC's own fault that this thing has gone to the wire, they seem to be bending over backwards to make amends to the applicant - as well they should. Cheers Gill
