Guest the ps Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hi We went to Bridge Clinic today for medicals. Staff were nice and friednly took 2 hours for myself, husband, daughter 12 and son age 19 months to have medical, xrays, bloods.:cute: Cost for the 4 of us £608. But as I am a nurse had to pay another £176 for hepatitis blood tests!! What a rip off! :arghh: Just thought I'd warn other health professionals about the extra cost!! Still will be worth it !! gilliantay Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hi Brenda, Like you I am a nurse and had to have the extra blood test but was charged far less than you were - like take off £100 !!!!!! You were charged £608 but was the blood test on top of that or included in the £608 ? Also, were your x-rays included in this price ? Our medical bill was £565, blood test included in this price. That was for me, OH and son (12). Our x-rays were another £140 taking our total to £705. Fingers crossed for you - where are you headed ? We are hoping for Victoria (Geelong) Gill
ali Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hi Brenda, I took a print out of my immunisation history from Occ Health to prove I'd had hep injections etc., but the dr said that dimia wants them done anyway. It is a rip off though when you consider the number of nurses going. Another word of warning - I still had another 2 years on my NMC reg and tried to get a refund - no chance unless I was taking early retirement. When I'd renewed they didn't have the option of yearly renewal - has this come in yet? If it has I urge nurses who are thinking of going to Oz to do this so you won't be out of pocket. Ali
Guest the ps Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hi Ali the yearly registration is in now so that makes it a bit easier. Gill we are hoping to go Redlands Bay area costal to Brisbane. Our medicals included xrays/hiv so total cost was £784. Have calmed down fron earlier but still thinks its a rip off ! I didn't actually check price of bloods when i booked as medicals seemed reasonable, so anyone else booking it may be worth shopping around.:cute: It will be worth it we are so excited about going! gilliantay Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I also took my record from Occ Health and was told the same as you Ali. You have raised a good point about NMC Reg though.......I am due for renewal in February 08 and it looks likely that I will have to pay it in full. My sister in Oz has always stated that only the strong survive on the road to gaining an Australian Visa. Good Luck Gill
ali Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I'm sure the whole process is designed as a survival of the fittest - if you have a nervous breakdown you're out - it you don't you're in. It is worth it though lol Good luck
