Guest The Ossits in Oz Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Can anyone help me ? My OH works as a technician and is not on a brilly wage. We have 2 young kids - 1 starts school next Jan and other is at the terrible 2 age :arghh: I used to work as a Secretary and would like to help bring in some monies to get on housing ladder but am concerned that my wages would go on childcare. Am I better to stay at home, work part-time or get a full time job?? :err: Do you get help with childcare ? Are there childminders here and would they work out cheaper ? Can anyone help me ?? or  I am still trying to understand how all the systems work but it can be confusing sometimes especially with Government employees !! Anne
Guest PaulnLisa Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hiya Anne, We are both in the same boat, my OH isn't on a fab wage either. My eldest is starting prep in January and i have a 3 year old. I am planning to go back to work once my eldest is in school as we need the money. What type of visa are you on, we are on a 136 independent and do get help with child care, I know a big chunk of my wage will go on childcare but at least the rest will help us out. Noticed your location is coomera we are in upper coomera, if you fancy a chat let me know and I'll pm you my number. Lisa x
Guest The Ossits in Oz Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hi Lisa Thanks very much for that - nice to know someone else in same situation. I have sent you a pm. Anne x
Guest gary12 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hi I asked a similar question a while ago, I wanted to get a part time position that fitted in with childcare, OH's working hrs etc. Several people said that there were local gvmt call centres and other call centre type jobs that involve working really early but then being finished by about 7am. Probably not ideal and not overly stimulating (no offence) to do full time or for life but if it fits in with the kids and brings in extra cash in the short term it might solve your problems. Sorry I can't be more specific but it would seem that if you don't mind a few unsociable hours there is work. Michelle
