Guest Nie&Del Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 hi folks, Im hopefully nearing to the end of a long journey, everything finally gone and dusted to case officer last week, however there is 1 thing myself and husband have no clue about, From following the threads I know someone will have the answer, here goes; If we are lucky enough to be granted the visa, 136 and from what i believe once granted you then send your visa/+families to london OZ house, question is? Do u then have a year from that date to go. or is it from your meds date? :chatterbox: Only asking because we are planning to rent our house out and we need to remortgage towards the end of the year(fix rate, bi**h):policeman: Any advice would be most most welcome Naomi
Lucia Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hey, I'm a newbie - just got my registration email and was going to post the very same question! My partner and I would like to move to Oz next sept/oct. My partner is an Australian citizen by descent, so I'm planning on applying for a spouse visa. We're both pretty fired up and are gathering supporting docs, application forms etc, however, we aren't sure when the best time is to lodge the application. After reading previous posts it seems that it does not take too long but, like yourself, we do not want to get caught out with deadlines on visa/medicals! Would love to know whether you have a yr from meds or a yr from visa being granted?? Thanks
keily Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hi Guys .... You Have A Year From When You Had Medicals /police Checks Done Whichever Came First .... From What Ive Gathered From Other Peeps They Actually Tell You When You Have To Make Entry By ... Hope This Helps Mrs Keily
Lucia Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Thanks Keily, I suppose it does not matter too much for us as we would like to emigrate sept/oct, however, things do crop up and I would hate to have to start over again with medicals/police checks etc. Thanks again
Guest PaulnLisa Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Its a year from the date of either your medicals or police checks, whichever is the earliest date. They took it from the date of our medicals as that was done before we had our police checks back.We had our medicals on 17th April so our initial entry into australia had to be before 17th april 08. Hope this helps. Lisa
ali Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Yeah, the visa is granted from the earliest date of either the medicals or police checks - so if you can remember which was earliest, you will have 12 months from that date to make your first entry into Australia (validate). This generally doesn't cause a problem, unless you've front loaded your meds or police checks by a lont time, which would then reduce the time you have to validate. Some people have front loaded then found they've only got 6 months to get to aus Ali
a&s Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hi, We had our p/c on 16th September 07 and our meds 27th September 07... Our visa granted letter says we have to make our initial entry to Australia by the 8th September 2008, and your date given can not be changed at all... Hope this helps?
Lucia Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Although my partner and I are very excited and raring to go, I think we'll need to refrain from 'front loading' the medical/police checks. Thanks again for the advice!
ali Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Front loading can be a bit of a lottery if you're not ready to go when the visa is granted (e.g. still need to sell your house etc.,), it can cause a bit of added pressure and mean you have to take a rather expensive holiday to validate. Ali
