Firstly, Thanks to all you guys that left us a wee post with your good wishes and congratulations. Secondly, what the hell do we do now? What takes priority? What should we be doing to make the transition a lot easier on the way there, when we arrive there and while we are there? All the help we can get will be greatly appreiciated! I think that a few other peeps on here would benefit from a thread like this too.

Cheers!

Hi Guys,

Well this is a hard thing to list cos everyones priorities are different I suppose, ie do you have a house to sell, pet to sort etc??

Us we rented out house so we:

Booking Tickets

Booked Shipping

Handed in our notice (day after got visa)

Wrote to all companies to inform them date of our move

Finalised the rental agreement on our property

Sold our cars on Ebay

Sold everything else that didnt move on Ebay

On the day we left we rang in Electric & Gas readings and paid there and then.

If I think anything else will let you know, we left 5 weeks after our visa was granted.

ps we had place to stay when we arrived so didnt need to do anything for that.

Hey folks,

KazzE, Naw! Yer No Gettin Them!!! lol! We gave the postie an extra fiver to make sure he ran all the way! I hope you get them soon. The house is all sorted, we are renting it out. So my car is the biggest thing to sell, and I really don't want to sell it! I hope we get more guys on here with some sound advice for us.

Em, thanks for your post and info. House is sorted, sounds like we are doing the same as you, dog is nearly sorted just need to iron a couple of things out with them. We have had Crown Relo round giving us a quote and that is the only one we have asked so far, was just going to go with them.Who did you use? Who did you book your tickets through? How did you get on selling the cars on ebay? get what you wanted for them? I've always thought selling a car on ebay would be a royal pain in the backside. We were thinking of having a kinda yard sale type thing closer to our moving date which is probably going to be end of March, beginning of April.

Anybody else got any useful tips get them on here.

Cheers,

Kevin.

Hi guys,

We used Crown they were great. We did get other quotes and managed to slash crowns price by 600 pound as we got a cheaper quote and they dropped theirs as I expressed that I really wanted to use them but hubby wanted to save pennies and use the cheaper one!

Well OH car sold fine was only a banger, we listed out people carrier 3 times and got about 100 less that we wanted for it. I could cry cos I loved it and we had to pay so much here for a car and its no where near as nice as my mummy car I had.

You could do couple car boots I did a few and made quite bit of money, I even put a sign in the car and someone came looked at it, to be honest should have sold him it wanted 200 more than he offered but ended up selling it for that anyway, and had to leave it behind for my dad to sell.
