Guest 40k Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I'm klangton's son, Lewis Trigg (If she'd have mentioned it was a forum, I would have joined earlier!) @Admins: If my name is a problem, feel free to change it to my real one! I'm moving to Oz on 30th Jan and am really looking forward to it! My new school there sounds good, and I hoped that I would be able to talk to someone that goes there. (I don't know the actual name though (Indurapilli or something), I'm sure that Mum can post it when she see's this thread!) Edit: Just been informed that it is Indooroopilly Anyway, hope I don't act like too much of a n00b to you guys! I think this forum will be a lot of fun!
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Lewis Welcome to Poms in Oz. There is no problem with your user-name. If you are happy with it, so are the Moderators (Admins.) I'm not going to try to guess how to spell the name of the place where you will be going to school! I've seen it on the map but I couldn't spell it without the aid of the map! How old are you Lewis, and have you got any brothers & sisters? If so, how old are they? What sort of things are you interested in at school and outside of school? Best wishes Gill
Guest 40k Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I'm 14 (15 in Jan) and I have my Baby brother, Dylan who' 3 (4 in Feb). I like Lego (Sad, I know...) and Karate.
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 HI Lewis Cop a load of this link (if it works): Indooroopilly + Karate Clubs - Google Search If the link doesn't work, tell Google to find Google Australia. Tell GA to confine itself to web-pages from Australia, then tell it Indooroopilli + karate clubs. I found stacks of links, so that bit is sorted for you. There is nothing whatsoever the matter with lego, either. I love lego but since I was a girl and didn't have any brothers, no lego kits ever came my way for Chrstmas or my birthday....... I used to get the odd five minute twitch with it at friends houses till their brothers (who owned the lego) turned up and turfed me away from their toys. Meccano always looked a bit to scientific to me but lego was do-able. Now please try this link: Indooroopilly + Lego Clubs - Google Search Apparently it is possible to build a lego robot or something. Looks good, anyway. There is NOTHING sad about your interests, my friend. You are a yougester with an extremely good brain and a very good command of English. I predict a great future for you, Lewis. Why anyone would boot a bag of wind up and down a field or risk catching a cricket ball that will slice the pads off your fingers if you are lucky is beyond me but if I lived near you I'd be straight round to have a go with your lego. When I was at school, I moved schools aged 12. I had been taught to play Lacrosse, which can be quite vicious. You are supposed to hit the opponent's stick. You are NOT supposed to break her thumb for her by bashing that instead of the stick, as some little psychopath did to me. At the new school, I was informed, "We play hockey." I thought, "Do we? Well, I haven't a clue about hockey but I'll come and have a look." Once and once only! Nobody told me what I was supposed to do. The ball looked extremely hard. The sticks looked just plain dangerous. Eventually some young woman bashed the ball in my direction with extreme force. I am sure it would have broken my shin if it had hit me. I jumped and the ball went neatly under my feet and copped sombody else. I thought, "This is just plain dangerous," so I very quickly became dead good at skiving out of hockey. I've never stood on a hockey pitch from that day to this. Cheers Gill
Guest 40k Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Thanks for the links! Do they sell much Lego in australia?
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hi Lewis I don't know whether you would be able to buy lego pieces/kits in the shops in Indooroopilly but I should think you can definitely buy them in Brisbane. The best thing, though, would be to join one or two of th local lego clubs when you get there and ask them where they buy lego from because you can be sure that the locals will have located the best and cheapest sources. In the meanwhile, have a look at thiese links and see what you think of the range & prices. If you divide the AUD price by 2 you will get the approximate sterling equivalent price, which will be near enough accurate. BrickNet - Australian Online LEGO Specialists since 2002 Lego, All Products For Sale - iQ Toys Australia Wholesale Lego - Find the Best Deals, Shop for Low Prices, and Buy Online at DoorOne Australia I found loads of other links when I told Google Australia to find Indooroopilly + lego. If you re-do the search but use Brisbane + lego, you should get a list of all the retail shops selling lego over the counter plus their locations. Cheers Gill
