Guest Gardiner Gang Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 As the title says my ohs tra application has come back failed. We are absoultely gutted. Our agent cannot believe it as he has had other chefs less qualified than Mark get through. He has suggested we wait till January and appeal, as he is hoping pathway D will reopen. Mark has done 2 years at college and has 16 years work experience. I was sure we would get through. I am so upset as it seems all the hard work I went to has gone to waste and I don't know now if we will ever make to Oz. Its not been a good week so far as our oldest son had to go into hospital on Sunday to have his appendix removed. Was hoping to have some good news before Xmas. I can only hope the appeal works. Pauline:cry:
keily Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 AH PAULINE SORRY TO HEAR YOUR NEWS ... HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT GOING DOWN THE SPONSORSHIP ROUTE ? CHEFS ARE IN HIGH DEMAND IN OZ ESPECIALLY WA ... HOPE YOUR SON IS FEELING BETTER - I THINK MOST OF US HAVE TO COME TO TERMS THAT WE ARE NOT GONA HAVE AN EXTRA CHRISSIE PRESSI THIS YEAR ... NEVER MIND MAYBE 2008 WILL BE OUR YEAR ... CHIN UP MRS KEILY
Guest Serenity Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 HI I wish you all the best in your appeal. It'll all fall into place quickly for you in the new year. Keep trying, it could just be a few months more for you to have your dream. I hope that your son is recovering from his surgery and you all have a nice Christmas. Don't give up yet.
Guest mtcosby Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Pauline im so sorry to hear your news can I ask what did your OH get failed on.. i'm asking as we got through the TRA on my skills as a chef, it was really hard work and some of the refs I got had to be redone as they were not detailed enough... it took me over 3 months to get through the TRA stage... On another note i've had my appendix out when I was 16 just before they burst.... and your son will bounce back quicker than you can imagine... keep your spirits up i'm sure you will get good advice on here ... I would enjoy christmas then think about the appeal Good luck and Merry Christmas Tracey
Guest Gardiner Gang Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Thank you for the support it really helps. I've not seen the letter from the agent yet but he said Mark failed because his stat dec does not state that mark was a trainee chef, I thought that was what a commis was. Pauline
Guest mtcosby Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Pauline When I did my refs it had to be written in a certain way stating what my role was in the kitchen when I first started work as a chef .. It had to have written down I was being trained by the head chef in all areas of the kitchen before I was allowed to do the job, had to have the tools of the trade I used listed down .. even things that you think they wouldn't need to know like measuring jugs, knives for different things, coloured chopping boards (what they were used for) all that kind of stuff, recipes of dishes I made and was trained on (given the list of ingreidients and the methods) really strange things had to be put down. Also they wanted a list of duties that I under took and dates of any training I did or training sessions I attended. Hope this helps I had a really good agent who told me what things they wanted in the TRA statements, Tracey
Guest Gardiner Gang Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Thanks Tracey The report has said it has failed as no apprenticeship was served. Where I must have gone wrong is not stating enough that Mark was trained by the Head chef. I had loads of info in the application like methods, receipes, day to day duties and lists of equipment used and what for. I did not think it could be any more detailed. Agent thinks we got a really picky assesor and hes being really anal. I couldn't agree more. Will wait till new year and see what happens. Thanks for advice and help, much appreceiated. Pauline
TheBrammies Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 its sounds to me you failed on lack of formal training which wouldn't have mattered on pathway d i think you should forget about it until after christmas had a damn good christmas and wait for the options in january then i think and hope there will be a pathway for you to go through or have you tried a sponsered visa where there is a will there is a way GOOD LUCK
The Butlers Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Pauline Really sorry to hear your news. Hope your son gets better soon, better out then in. If it makes you feel better we are in the same boat:arghh: My husband is a plasterer and roofer, they are saying we need 900 hours of college, how long does it take to learn how to plaster a wall you are good at it or not. The sad thing is we went or 6 weeks in January and if we had started the TRA when we got back we would have it but we wanted to do work on the house. So I am throwing myself into christmas while Tim does the house up and was thinking the other day this time next year we will have a visa as they will bring something in. Wish you all the luck and look forward to seeing how you get on. Have you been before. Where are you hoping to go as we went to perth and loved it.:notworthy: Bye for Now Emma
Guest scots-in-oz! Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Pauline, Just home from work & seen your post...I'm so upset for you... I just can't believe it. Like you say, you put so much work into it. Surely you can try to get it reworded or something, and resubimmit it, or appeal? Like you saw, enjoy Christmas first and get it sorted in the new year. I'm sure you'll make it to Oz somehow! Have a look at some other visa options, there might be something else for you! Think positive though! There must be a way! Hope Ashley's doing fine. Bet he can't wait to get back to school! Chin up girl! Good luck, and I'll see you soon. Mags:wubclub: x
KazzE Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi hun, so sorry to hear you have had a set back it sounds like you failed on lack of information about training I failed my TRA first time too, as I did it myself I rang the TRA on the number that was in the letter ans spoke to a very nice assesment officer who told me to request written feedback, which I did. This came by e mail and told me where I had gone wrong, what I had missed out or not explained properly. This made it very easy to see how I could appeal. I ended up re appying through an agent because we were short of time and I wanted to make sure that it all went through with no more problems. I would keep on your agents case about written feedback and appealing and talk through where the stat dec went wrong. Good luck:wubclub:
Alan Collett Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I would have a freebie chat with my colleague Stephen Dickson on Melbourne number 00 61 3 9935 2929. Stephen handles skills assessments for our trade skills clients. We are finding Skill Pathway B is a real alternative for many of those affected by the removal of Skill Pathway D, but it can involve a re-focussed application (ie the content of accompanying paperwork may need to be slightly different). If you telephone Stephen call him after 10pm UK time (9am in Victoria). Best regards.
Guest Gardiner Gang Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Thanks guys your support is very much appreciated I was feeling soo down yesterday but have woken up a bit more positive today. We will get to Oz one way or another. Ashley is doing great after his op and is gradually getting up and about. He is really missing his friends, he is hopefully having some friends round today after school. Will keep you posted on how we are getting on and hopefully after the new year there will be some good news. Pauline
Guest raka Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 after pathway D we can concentrate on pathway C because it also rely on work experience and trainingship and somebody who is refused on pathway D can add documents for the time in which he work as OGT. with some disclaimer from that times supervisor.:GEEK:
