Guest The.Colebecks Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 As some of you know our family has had a pretty rough 12 months with family illness, etc etc the latest sadness being the death of Ashley's brother of lung cancer on the 16th November, he was only 45 and had never smoked in his life, so cruel! A little brightness shined on us today though - our middle son (Toby) has a heart condition and as many of you know this has been a concern of ours regarding the medicals / visas however today, after 5 years, he was officially taken off his beta blocker medication so we are all over the moon, especially Toby!! His consultant is writting a letter for us to send to LCU to confirm this. There is always a silver lining, it just takes a little hope and some careful looking to find it sometimes. Karen xx

Lynandsean Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I hope that light continues to shine from now on for you and your family Karen. We have had a rough ride recently (only to be with house sale) but pales into insignificance compared to your story. Fantastic news for your son and a heartfelt condolence for all of you over the loss of Ashleys brother. As you say, so very sad and so very very wrong too. Lyn x

Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Karen I am so very, very sorry. Until a minute ago I did not know anything about the traumas that your family has been going through. I am so sorry to hear about Ashley's brother and my heart absolutely goes out to your family. I cannot imagine how I would feel if anything happened to my beloved sister Elaine, but "Distraught" would be the top word on my list, for sure. I am, however, very pleased to hear the good news about Toby. You are absolutely right about the silver lining. BIG HUGZ Gill xx
Guest wardy Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Karen glad about the news on Toby but sad about the news on Ashley's brother, nothing is ever easy is it. Have you heard anything on your visa yet or have I missed the news. :wubclub:

Guest The.Colebecks Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Thanks everyone :wubclub: I'm desperate to get that confirmation letter from the Cardiologist now so that I can send it off to the CO for addition to the meds, which we are STILL waiting to have approved (sent on 3rd October). Apparently LCU are dealing with applications received on the 12th November now so goodness knows what's happened to ours :wideeyed: Emailed the agent and he basically told me to be patient and that they were taking about 10 weeks to be processed - only 1 more week to go then - I'll believe it when I see it!! K xx
Guest Rachel&Stu Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 It's great to see you back online Karen:jiggy: We've missed your posts. Glad to hear you've got some good news about your son. Cheers, Rache x:cute:

Lazy Cow Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 we're so looking forward to you joining us on the other side. Ali Crikey Ali! I thought they were emigrating not becoming Jedi Knights (or whatever it was...:goofy:) I'm so sorry to learn about your brother-in-law. How awful. I really can't think of anything to say, except I'm so sad for you all. Toby's health is a gift though, and really happy news. It seems so strange to be consoling then congratulating straight after... but it is wonderful news. So hopefully, really, not long now! :wubclub:Caroline. xx

So hopefully, really, not long now! :wubclub:Caroline. xx Hi Caroline, Well, it seems we are destined to be on the emotional roller-coaster for a while longer ... My sister-in-law (the wife of the brother who just died) was diagnosed with skin cancer just after he was diagnosed but she had the moles and the lymph glands removed in September and all was fine. However, yesterday she went for a follow-up appt and they are concerned about 8 other moles so she's having them removed in January. She was so so low last night when she told me, as you can imagine. Their daughter (13) has just gone loopy over this latest news, poor love. So, it wont be a very happy xmas in our family this year, even if the damn visas arrive  K xx
Lazy Cow Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Karen, that's just not fair. Sometimes you just wonder why. Fairness just doesn't enter into it regarding health, but it's just so awful. That poor child. I know you are good at being positive and I guess the fact that they are removing more moles is about being extra careful which is good. I should imagine everyone is going to have to try very hard to ensure they eat properly, sleep well and allow themselves to grieve because you all need to keep as healthy as poss. Specially your sister and niece. I've never wanted to send a hug more than I do now. I wish you all, all the very best. I know how hard it is to feel good about enjoying life after you've lost someone you love, but I am sure sure that your brother would want his family to go on with life and live it as fully and happily as they can. For what it's worth, I know I would. Love, Caroline.XX

Thank-you xx:wubclub: Our roller coaster ride on the up again for a bit as we've just heard that our meds have been 'uploaded to the database' which seems to mean that they have all be processed and now the ball is back in the CO's court .. next step visas (hopefully!!) Love to all K xx
