Guest millymand Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Hi , I'm new to PIO. I can't beleive it's actually happening. Myself , my husband and 2 kids 7 and 9 are moving to Queensland. We have been waiting all year for this and now it's actually here. We are hoping to complete our house sale on the 19 Dec, (our buyers would prefer to complete on 14) we will then have to live in a hotel or B&B until we fly out to Oz. We have no idea where we are going to stay when we arrive. My husband is waiting to hear from a job interview in the Southport area, if successful we will be looking to rent somewhere in that area. We have friends up on the Sunshine Coast who are fantastic and are helping us in every way possible. Would love to hear from anyone who can advise on anything and everything. Thanks for taking time to read my post and look forward to chatting.

Kabroom Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi Sarah and Darren, That sounds like a good idea to me, whereabouts in Brisbane are you heading?
Guest The Ossits in Oz Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Hi - we have been in Queensland since May 2007 and when we first arrived rented a fully furnished property in Ormeau. We have since moved to Coomera and are much happier here especially now we have our own new furniture. Personally I think Coomera is a really nice place to live and is only about 20 minutes to Southport. Obviously everyone is different and has different preferences so I think you should stay in a hotel and look around for yourselves. When you rent for 6 months it feels like an eternity if you are not happy there so it is best to check out properties and places. Good luck with your move and hope you have a very warm Xmas!! Anne and Simon
Guest millymand Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. A special hello to calNgary, thank you for your reply, I will pm you if that's ok when we have more news. We are hoping to fly out of Heathrow on Xmas day, we thought we might as well as we can't buy proper presents for the kids this year as everything will have already been shipped. We are hoping to stop in Singapore for a couple of days and arrive in Sydney on 29 Dec. Just in time to start our new year, new life down under. We are then hoping to fly up to the Sunshine Coast to spend a bit of time with our friends before hopefully coming back down to the Gold Coast for my hubby's work (hopefully will find out any day now about the job). He is an OT. We will need to find out about schools for the kids too, girl 9, boy 7. We have been looking on the internet at rented accommodation but we don't want to commit to anything until we can have a look first. So many things to think about I think my head may explode.
