Guest monty Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 I don't think you are allowed to put any food stuffs in the container. Quarantine rules are very strict, please make sure that when you come through the airport you don't have any food stuffs on you not even sweeties. My son was carrying a plastic bag and the sniffer dog stopped and we were asked alot of questions, he had had some toffees in it on the plane and it was empty. It was really quite stressful at the time because you feel guilty even if you haven't done anything. Monty

ali Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 You can get Bisto here too (not seen the granuels). Helaine sent my children some quavers and monster munch by post - these were opened by quarantine although allowed through. I know they don't let milk products through (not sure if it's dairy and wouldn't let the mayo 'cos of eggs). They're very strict. Ali
calNgary Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 I think its milk and meat products they stop and most other stuff is ok as long as you declare it.I use gravox or the woolys home brand and they are ok ,,ive had no complaints, you do find alternatives to most things easily and woolys have a section of gluten free products ,, Cal x

Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Hi All I've taken big jars of Marmite into Oz for my sister because she says locally made Marmite isn't the same. I took it in y hand luggage and declared it. The quarantine lady was a bit uncertain but then I pointed out that both jars (the really giant ones that cost about a fiver each in the UK) still had the sealed plastic thing round the lid, so she let them through. However, she would not let me keep the apples & bananas I had scrounged on the plane because I was peckish between meals. (I had thought they might be OK because there was a chance that the Singapre Airlines shuttle between Singapore and Perth might have loaded the fruit in Perth anyway. The quarantine lady said that SQ load all the food in Singapore and that therefore I could not keep the fruit.) She made me put it in a special bin. I've had a Harrods Stilton, in a green & gold jar all wrapped in cellophane (from which they somehow extract all the air, which stops the cheese from degrading before the cello is removed) confiscated at Perth. They were not having that at any price! Cheers Gill
