Will I be required to undertake a drug twist when applying for working holiday visa from UK?
m1ckyd88 posted a topic in Visa Chat
I’m planning to work in aus next year and I smoke canabis most nights. Will this affect my chances of gaining working entry? Or will I be required to provide blood/urine samples as standard? Please help:/ ? ??? -
Hello all, im planning on moving to Australia to be with my partner around early December. I haven’t applied for any visa yet however I’m unsure if it’s best to come on the working holiday visa and apply for the 801 temporary while I’m there or apply for the 801 and come on that. Has anyone apply for the 801 very early into the working holiday visa? How long would it take to process? Thanks for the help!

Hi all - new to forum, signed up especially as hit a new low following the ATO's WHV tax rebate rules. looking for people in similar situation. As per the ato website WHV holders who have earnt $18,200 or more between Jan-Jun 2017 will get essentially NO TAX FREE THRESHOLD on any income received Jul-Dec 2016.Say you earnt $18,200 in Jul-Dec 2016 and $18,200 in Jan-Jun 2017: this means you pay 15% on WHV income which also in turn erodes the tax free threshold on earlier income resulting in paying 19% tax on $18,200 PLUS 15% tax on $18,200. This can’t be right surely?????? I've gone from overpaying my Jun-Dec 2016 tax by $2-3k (pro-rata threshold / previous tax rules) to not only having that eroded by income earnt in 2017 but I now owe tax apparently, even though I've been consistently paying 15% tax in 2017. (FI I earnt approx $24k 2016 and $15k 2017 paying $7k in tax in total)

Hey I'm Ciara I'm 29 I'm a solo female traveller, I have my working holiday visa and my flights are booked for September. I'm really excited about making the move but also completely nervous and stressed and was hoping to get some advice on a few things. Are there any agencies I could maybe look at before I come over who would offer me help with setting up bank accounts and tax numbers if I already have my visa or are these a waste of money? And if so how will I get a tax number or bank account if I am staying in hostels with no fixed address? I feel like I need a checklist to ensure I bring everything when I come over! I will be turning 30 In March so when I get over in September I was thinking about getting stuck into the farm work straight away to try meet people and get it out of the way before it gets too hot. I will be flying to the gold Coast will there be any farm work around this area at this time? And lastly if I don't have any of the skills on the lists and the recent visa changes does this mean I will not be eligible for permanent residency and will have to return after 2 years? I feel like I have loads more questions but these are the major worries I have. I'm so excited but completely nervous at the same time and constantly overthinking my decision to move. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ciara

Calling Australian Teachers!!! Advice needed for UK trained Early Years Teacher!
Natalie Richardson posted a topic in Queensland
Hi, I'm coming over to QLD on a WHV later this year (Sept) and need advice as to where the best places are to secure Teaching jobs. Although I am Secondary Trained, I have been teaching Primary (specifically Early Years ages 5 and under) since qualifying in 2010. I would like to continue working with this age group and hopefully impress an employer so that they may sponsor me, as would like to stay on a more permanent basis. Any advice would be much appreciated as would new contacts as I'm a single lady with no contacts in Oz currently - brave or mad? Not sure which lol x- 27 replies

Hi, Im Steph, 24, originally from Manchester, UK, lived in NZ for two years and recently moved to Ausralia. I'm currently based in Sydey, travelling on my own & looking to complete my regional work, so to apply for my second WHV, ASAP. I'm hoping to find people in my position, (travelling alone or in a small group) to join forces with to complete the 88 days work ASAP. I'm willing to go halves on a car, as most jobs say this is a must, and also willing to travel pretty much anywhere in Aus, as long as the work is paid and accomodation is farely cheap. If you are based anywhere in and around Sydney, or any major town center I can get too farely easily via public transport, and would like to embark on this together, please contact me via pm. Look forward to hearing off you! Steph
