Permanent resident visa & working holiday visas
Chris & Ellie posted a topic in Family / Partner Visas
Hello everyone, me and my girlfriend are due to move out to Australia in September 2023. I myself have a permanent resident visa as I lived there when I was younger which I have now renewed. However my girlfriends situation is different. We would like to apply for a partner defacto visa but as we don’t currently live together or have joint accounts we are unable to do so. So we are left with the option of getting her a working holiday visa. If we do decide we want to live there which im always certain we will, what would our options be after her first year on a working holiday visa is up? chris and Ellie.- 4 replies

Hi everyone, After planning for over 2 year’s me and my boyfriend have arrived on the Sunshine Coast and the area is amazing! Not your average backpackers as we wanted to have a base for a few months at a time and do road trips/ day trips when we feel like it. The down side is that as we chose to stay in an air bnb and my boyfriend has found some casual work already, I’m feeling very lonely! I’ve been going out and about on my own but I’m finding it hard to connect with people whether I’m just a little nervous still being in a totally new country. I guess what I’m asking is that if anyone who is currently on the Sunshine Coast (I’m close to Mooloolaba at the moment) wants to hang out/go trips together/drinks/beach whatever then please let me know! Cheers ?

Hoping someone is able to help me out and offer advice! Little bit of a different topic. So I've been over to Australia a couple of times and fell in love with it. And in typical British fashion, would love to up sticks and move there. I've got quite a lot of close family friends and school friends who live out there so luckily I wouldn't be completely alone over there. I'm currently studying a Masters in Professional Acting in London and for the last year, I have been contemplating moving after I have graduated. It's now or never right? But my main concern is my career choice. I'm well aware that the acting industry is tough and very competitive no matter where you are - however I was wondering if anybody on here knows a thing or two about the Acting Industry over in Australia - specifically Sydney, or even Melbourne? If so, I have a couple of questions. What is the industry like? Is it a good place to be for a career in Acting? How tough is getting an agent? And are the agencies good out there in terms of getting you auditions? Do you get many opportunities in terms of Film & TV? Is it possible to get representation if only on a Working Holiday Visa? Do they offer opportunities to audition for US TV shows & Films? Any advice would be amazing!! Would massively appreciate it as it is hard to find advice on this through google. Thank you, Zoe

Hi everyone, my story is a bit delicate: I got my first WHV on Feb 2015 and applied for the second on Jan 2016, it's been approved on 24 March. Around November I started looking for schools as I was actually really excited about keeping up with my studies and so I wanted to choose the right school. At the same time I had my visa checked by my education agent and she confirmed me that it was expiring on 24 March 2017, so I kept looking and then at the beginning of March I started to apply for the student Visa. What happened is that I've found out I couldn't go through the request because my Visa expired on Feb 2017. So the next morning I went straight to the immigration to explain my situation and see what I could do, they gave me a BVE and I left the country. My concern is this: should I reply Yes or Not while filling details for a new visa when they ask if I've been excluded from or refused to entry to a country/ Removed from or asked to leave? What happens if my Australian student visa gets rejected? I'm contacting different agents but I'd like to hear from the folk also. Thank you so much you all if you can give your thoughts. Cheers.
