    Dental woes!

Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows of somewhere in the Sydney area (I am near Manly) where I can get cheap dental done??? I have been putting it off as I know HOW incredibly expensive dental work is out here, however I have 2 wisdom teeth coming through and one has been sore for a couple of weeks now... I am going back home for a long holiday over xmas and have an appointment booked with my local but I don't think I can wait that long! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Lucy
  2. The holiday is over. Tourism in Australia is flagging but the industry has grand plans for a revival, writes Clive Dorman. Australian tourism has hit rock-bottom. Like an addict looking for a road to recovery, the industry finally conceded last week there is a problem. The State of the Industry report by the federal government's Tourism Research Australia agency, which was presented at the industry's first Tourism Directions conference in Canberra on November 15, laid out the stark reality that tourism ran into a brick wall a decade ago. That was roughly when Australia ceased to be the world's ''flavour of the month'', even though consumers around the globe still rate Australia among the top few places they would like to see. See comments from Australians here. Indian students ditching Australian education plans. AUSTRALIA'S multi-billion-dollar Indian student market has collapsed in just 12 months. This is because new students are turning their backs on the once-prized Australian education sector in favour of Canada, New Zealand and Britain. Enrolments from the Indian student market -- which until last year was showing annual growth rates of up to 40 per cent and was worth almost $3 billion a year to the Australian economy -- have been dropping since March. By September, commencements were down almost 50 per cent on last year, due to the combined effect of onerous new financial requirements, last year's street attacks on Indian students, vocational school closures and the rising Australian dollar.

    modl woes!!

Hi, this is my first post on pio so please be gentle!!! My husband is the main applicant and passed his ACS skills assessment back in October 2009 (.Net specialist). Now the MODL has vanished we cannot apply for a 175 as we now only have 105 points so it is the 176 route. We are on the skills list for Queensland which is great but what I am wondering is this: Are we still on the DIAC csl as it says at the bottom of the csl that computing professionals are included if they are on the modl. Now with the MODL gone, where does that leave us? Will we have to wait years for our visa? This whole visa process is just sooo complicated!! Sorry if this has been asked/answered before. Thanks

    UK housing woes...

So here is the thing...finally got round to having my 4 bedroom house in Cheltenham valued ready to go on the market this week. 2 years ago before we added 4 rooms with a two storey extension it was valued at £230,000. The EA valued in at a flexible £225,000 yesterday! gutted  Three hours later - even though i told him we probably wouldn't sell at that kind of price, the EA rang me and to tell me he had someone who would be interested in having a look at the house. I explained that we were not prepared to sell the house at that kind of price, so he asked me what we would be prepared to accept (minimum £250,000)...Then said that he could go back to the people that were interested and tell them what we wanted and then get them round to have a look! Because he thinks they would still be interested... So I'm confused!!!!! Haven't gone back to EA yet. I think it may be a good idea to get some more valuations. Not sure if we could afford to rent the house out for a year or so, because we need to cover the mortgage, agents fees etc. We could really do with some equity from the house but figure we are screwed because of the housing market.

    the woes of england

Just got back from a hol to the UK. We're going back home at Christmas, Perth's too expensive. BUT anyone thinking of going back; gas and electricity prices are soaring, food prices have risen like crazy, beer is well over £3 a pint, the M25 is still there, Gordon Brown is still PM, diesel is £1.35/ litre and house prices are plummeting. The good things - 2nd hand cars have also plummeted in value (good for us returning), beer is still better and cheaper than here, and houses are cheaper than Perth. The weather's still crap though. Anyone want to buy a 4 bed house worth of furniture, all only 9 months old ????

    Property Rental Woes

Hiya guys having real trouble locating a property to rent that ticks our boxes. We are hopefully going to Oz the beginning of November and looking at settling in Rockingham. Snag we are having is that with 6 of us we need a 4x2 with a study or a 5x2 and whilst there are plenty of 4x2 they either dont have a study and take pets, or do have a study and dont take pets, or do have a study and do take pets and are not where we would ideally like to live. Thing is we only want to rent for 12 months and would prefer to do it in the area where we will eventually buy so as not to disrupt the kids schooling in twelve months time - I understand they are quite strict in catchment areas for schooling. Wouldnt mind being as far down as Waikiki but I'll be working at Garden Island and need to be in cycling distance as to start with I reckon on us only being able to run one second hand car to be able to save the deposit for a house.:jimlad: Have been scrutinising the au realestate site but just cant seem to find what we want. Is there fewer rentals this time of year? anyone know of any properties? is there more advertised in the local papers? anyone any ideas or options?? Cheers guys - frustrated!!:arghh:
