    Visa 485 Help

Hi I would like to ask the questions: Now, I am on-bridging subclass 485 visa (over 6 months). I did the 2 years study in Australia and got positive assessment from ACS. However, I expecting my visa will get refuse because the IELTS result I submitted is not 6 bands in each components. One of my friend got refused in same issues. However, my partner still under student visa and just finished her 2 years study. She just got IELTS 6 bands in each component and got positive assessment from ACS. I believe that she are eligible to apply visa subclass 485 or 489 (if get invitation). My questions are: 1) Can i join her visa when she applying the new visa (485 or 489) with my on-bridging status? 2) Can i withdrawn on-bridging subclass 485 and join her new visa (485 or 489)? Thanks..

    457 sponsorship withdrawn

Do we have to inform DIAC that our sponsor has withdrawn 457 sponsorship? I presume the sponsor has to inform them too, my husband has asked them to let him know when they do this. Looking again...:arghh:
  3. I've been looking for work in my local area for some months now. Vacancies in my line of work are few and far between where I live so I have widened my search to include anything local that I think I might get. I always send a cover letter written especially for that vacancy; I check my resume regularly to see if I can find anything else to improve but it's been... quiet. Until last week I have only received responses to jobs that match my skills but I don't receive responses to those that don't. Fair enough but with so few jobs to match, I don't hear a lot from anyone! Last week I received that long-awaited magic phone call with an offer for a job in the CBD. Great! Not my dream job but but it was a job so I gladly accepted. In the next breath I was asked whether I was an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. I am neither of those so the offer was withdrawn with the explanation that they can only give permanent jobs to permanent residents or citizens. I explained that my visa has no restrictions but she said that the rule was not to be broken so we simply agreed that they would contact me again if a short-term contract or casual work became available. Is this a hard rule set by every employer or is this a requirement of just some? Am I looking at naught but casual work for two years? I'm not normally one to let a set-back get to me but this one happened to bite. Any advice gratefully received.
  4. Hi Folks I would like to know your thoughts. I know it seems a bit underhand, but I want to ensure that I stay in Australia and do not feel trapped in a State that I hate!!! As a Financial Advisor I have 2 choices a Provisional Visa to Adelaide or a Permanent Visa to Canberra. Now Adelaide would be my first choice, however I have read a lot of post's both on this site and the PIA site about Provisional Visa holders finding it hard to get work and also not getting a permanent visa at the end of their 2 years. I am open minded enough about living in Canberra but to tell you the truth it would never have been considered before. I my eyes the benefit of getting a permanent visa and committing to live there for 2 years is worth giving it a chance. My main concern is giving it a go and hating it. I don't want to spend 2 years of my life regreting my decision or my family wanting to return to the UK before we have completed 2 years in Canberra. If this was the case could my Visa be revoked if I moved the family to another state before I had completed my obligation to remain in Canberra for 2 years?
  5. In a shock move, all the State and Territory Treasury Corporations that were accepting capital investments from skilled migrants have announced their withdrawal from the program: Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News Best regards.
  6. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but DIAC have advised that from Friday 30 November, no State or Territory Government is actively participating in arrangements that allow allocation of 5 bonus points to General Skilled Migration applicants to deposit $100,000 in a nominated investment for term of at least 12 months. This basically means those applicants who were banking on the 5 bonus points will have nowhere to invest the funds. They have alo announced that they have no intention of offering any alternative. Applicants who have been waiting for the request for the investment will not get the bonus points because, although having applied under an expectation that they would be able to deposit funds, they will not now be able to find a State/Territory Government prepared to continue to participate in the investment arrangements regardless of when they lodged their visa application, these people will now “miss out” on the opportunity to get the 5 bonus points. :arghh:
