  2. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if I could ask a little favour please! I am getting married in March to my fabulous fella and we have found our photographer. They're currently running a competition to get some money off their price and a free album afterwards. I'm sure that all of you who are already married appreichate just how much costs add up, so we're trying anything we can to save a few dollars! If anyone has facebook accounts, I would be sooooooo grateful if you could go to the 'White Canvas Photography' page, 'like' it, and then write something on their wall - can be anything, but please say that 'Anna & Stuart sent you' to count as a vote for us! http://www.facebook.com/whitecanvasphotography?sk=wall Thank you so much - Hope that it was ok to post this here?! Anyway, if anyone is interested there is a 'Mens Health' clinic on tomorrow (friday 20th) at WIN stadium. I'm going. I shall be asking a few questions about my body now that I am at the stage in life where the body is starting to wear out! 6. The day has finally arrived. I havent got a clue who I should be backing or hoping to win. Abbott wants to cut immigration whereas we all know the changes that labor have made have delayed loads of visa applicants. So , Im asking the question who do we think would be best suited to get the Job of sorting out the migration policy so that its FAIR and also serves a purpose to a proseprous Australia. Who do we need to win so that those people in the pipeline are given a fair go. Personally its not happening under Labor what the the proposed cap and cease or retrospective plans. Any ideas fellow PIOs as things are getting close. Cheers and lets hope we all get the news we want offshore or onshore applicants I wish you all well Shane

  16. CALGARY - A war on gophers waged by two Canadian men went awry this weekend when a device used to blast the rodents in their holes sparked a massive grass fire in a rural area near Calgary, Alberta, causing more than C$200,000 ($197,000) in damages. Despite a ban on fires in the tinder-dry area of Springbank, just northeast of Calgary's city limits, two men went into a field to kill gophers using a device called a Rodenator, fire officials said on Monday. The device pumps a mixture of propane and oxygen into gopher holes, which is then ignited, and, according to the manufacturer's Web site, the resulting blast creates a shock wave that kills the gopher and collapses its tunnel system. "We had a couple of acreage owners out taking care of their rodent problem with this device," said Captain Joe Garssi of the municipal district of Rocky View's fire department. "They did a few holes successfully and then hit a hole that didn't go in very far. When they filled it with propane it over-filled the hole...and when they ignited it (fire) flashed out of the hole into the grass beside them." The resulting grass fire scorched about 160 acres of surrounding property and destroyed a number of outbuildings. No homes were damaged. "The way I look at it, it's 'humans eight, gophers one'." Garssi said, as the two men destroyed about eight of the rodents before sparking the blaze. Charges are being considered against one of the two men involved. In Western Canada, gophers, more properly called Richardson's ground squirrels, are often considered a nuisance, blamed for ruining crops and damaging golf courses and lawns. weird news

    Lottery win and control loss!

Well I said my luck would have to change and it did. £10 lottery win last week. WOW! That's the first time it has paid out in about two years. I reckon that was just the run up to a big win this week. Last week also brought the Queensland College of Teachers registration. What should have taken 6 weeks actually took six months, but my name is on their list of registered teachers so that's another good thing. And my CRB check came back and I could start supply teaching. So that should have been a good thing too except that the agency rang me on Wed and asked me to go to a junior school in Carlisle. This was at 8.15, school starts at nine and I am 65 miles away and the school is on the other side of the city from the motorway. So the message is sent that I won't actually arrive before 9.15. I arrive at 9.45 and am expecting at least one motorway speeding ticket as a result! I have to say that that one day was almost enough to put me off teaching for the rest of my life. I am a teacher with 17 years experience and I have to admit to being defeated by 32 nine year olds. I am not sure that anyone learned very much in the afternoon. I had four boys who were unable to stay seated and instead wandered the class trying to beat up other children. Then there were another half a dozen who had there own agendas and it wasn't science and air resistance. The class teacher left instructions that I take the class outside and they practice running about with large sheets of card feeling the air as they ran. Well I have to say that there was no way I was taking that lot outside and letting them run about - it would have been suicidal! No one popped in to ask me how it was going or if I needed anything. I left the school at the end of the day vowing never to set foot in the door again. This morning the agency asked if I would return for the whole of next week. The school had said how pleased they were with me and really wanted me back. I had to regretfully decline as debtors prison appealed more. Surely I have got to find something better than that. I hope supply teaching improves considerably or I may have to rethink my initial supply teaching plans for Oz. Rebecca
