Hi, Just a quick background, my partner and I are moving out to Oz on a WHV and will be arriving in Perth in June. We have a few things planned for the first few months and are looking to try and get some of our 'specified work" started around September/October time. I have been looking on backpackers websites for some time now and have failed to find anything completely useful. I was wondering if anyone on here could point me in the right direction for applying for jobs in the Gingin or Perth Hills area although it doesn't specifically have to be there it could be further afield than that. Apologies if this seems a little tedious, would just like some idea of where to look or where to get contacts for applying for jobs as we would like to have some sort of idea what to do when we are there. Kind Regards and thank you for your time
Hi there. Im another pom desperate to stay in Australia! I'm on a whv which doesn't run out until June but I just want to be prepared so increase my chances of being able to stay. At the moment I'm just doing shop work (which I love!) and I wondered if it was possible to be sponsored for this type of work? I thought you had to be in a skilled job to be able to be sponsored but a friend of mine is being sponsored in a waitressing position. I have an environmental degree but little work experience in this field. My plan was to apply for jobs within this area with a hope of finding a company to sponsor me. Would this be a better option? Any advice or peoples experience very much welcomed! Thank you xx
Hi, any help on this would be much apprciated, so thanks in advance- Me and my boyfriend are going over to Australia on a working holiday visa. We will be staying in Perth. My boyfriend is a bricklayer with a city and guilds qualification and lots of experience. He wants to work as a bricklayer while we are there. Has anyone else done this? The main question I have is that is his uk qualifiation recognised over there or will he need to do any tests to prove skills before he can work? I find it all quite confusing and cant find a definate answer to this?! I know he will need an ABN and a Blue/white card for health and safety, does he just need his uk qualification to apply for this? Or is it a longer process than that? Any insight would be greatly apprciated, thanks.
hi all, if any one has any info on the following please let me know when you can. so to summarise quickly i came out here to australia on a working holiday visa, then met my partner 2 months into it ( he is australian ) and decided to do the whole fruit picking work for 4 months to stay for a second year and to save(flights & my suprise europe trip for him) so he could come over to scotland with me to meet the family for 4 weeks. so we did this in oct 2008. Then we returned and luckily i got a job the same month, but ony casual. All the info i have researched said i can only work for 6 months at max for one employer on a working HOLIDAY visa, even if it is only 2 days a week. Now this is making me stress out and its not the easiest to save a few grand for a defacto on the wages either ( i have also been on a few interviews and am waiting feedback on another job, incase you think, hello.. lazy, go get another job!) so my point being, is there any way around me working for my employer longer than 6 months, seeing as i have been working to save for the de facto and i have not been on a holiday in australia? (apart from our trip back to my home so he could meet everyone) im not sure if this makes any sense, i have seen a whole different side to me since we started gathering all our defacto info, its quite scary. ok thanks for any feedback anyone Jess
