    Welding Work

Hi there, I’m a welder and looking to move to Perth. Our Visa is just about ready now and wondering if anybody has any contacts for finding work for pipe welders?
  2. Hi - I'm new to this, first post so please bear with me! My hubbie is a welder and we know we have to apply to TRA for recognition of his skills - however we are hoping to apply for him being a 1st class welder, as he does all of the tasks listed on the governments website for this job. The only thing is that the government website also states that the entry requirement is an AQF Level III or higher qualification.:err: My hubbie did a 2 year college course in welding and has a National Certificate in Fabrication and Welding Engineering Practice (this is his highest qualification) - is this equivalent to AQF level III, or does he have to get the AQF level III? Does the TRA do this for us when we apply for a skills assessment? I'm completely confused now! I hope someone can help

    Welding in Western Oz

Hi We're new to the forum and hoping for some advice please if possible - if we would be better posting this in another area too, then all suggestions are welcome! Since visiting the Perth area two years ago, we are growing more and more eager to return permanently. My partner’s brother lives to the south of Perth, and would love more family out there too. My OH has worked as a welder for over 10 years but has no formal qualifications/training, and from what we can gather our best bet would be for him to act as the main applicant and to apply for a 176 State Sponsored visa (after completing a VETASSES practical in London to validate his skills/experience). Is this correct???? We have also been wondering whether it would be possible for him to start sending a CV directly to companies out there in the hope that he could be sponsored by an employer. Does anyone know if this is feasible, and whether he would still need to go down the VETASSES route anyway before an employer would even consider him?? We really do need as much info and advice as possible, so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks Ange and Rick
  5. Hi Everyone, I am looking for 30 sheetmetal and fabrication gurus. This is further to my post for Boilermakers, which is the job title however a little misleading in the name itself! The client is in South Australia and will sponsor 4 year 457 business visas to successful applicants. The location is coastal and near some beautiful national parkland. This is a great opportunity for an overseas secondmentor perhaps something longer term. Please let me know if you are interested or know someone who might be. We have a referral reward system up and running  Many thanks, Adam W.

    Welding in WA

Hi, we have a 176 visa with my wifes job as a mental health nurse and she has a job offer. I have about 20 years experence in welding and fabrication but no formal qualifications or certificates. I have seen a few jobs for welders online and the pay looks good. In the UK I would apply for the job, do a weld test/ interview and then hopefully get offered the position. Do companys/factorys in Australia do this or do I need certain certificates or permits to work. I havent looked into this much as we have been focused on my wife as she was the main visa applicant.
  9. hey all ive been in melbourne for the last 8 or so weeks. im a fully qualified welder and have been welding aluminium for the last 7 1/2 years. ive been to a couple of welding jobs but so far i feel disheartened and as if ive just been used for cheap employment with a 'we'll let you know' feel about them (to which they dont reply), especially after being paid 150 dollars for 15 hours work. does anyone know of any welding jobs/agencys going as im getting seriously short of money now and i really dont want to go home. if not , does anyone know of any bar/ kitchen/ hotel/ labouring jobs going? in fact anything really!!! thanks all.

Also qualified flashbutt welding plant operator, flashbutt welding of rails on site.(also six years experience. ) Currently employed using both skills in U.K.
  23. Hi guys OH is a welder and has 15yrs experience. Is there any other welders on PIO who know how difficult it will be for him to get work. I have just been reading some other threads and it's quite frightening to hear how some of you guys have struggled to find work. I thought with the skills shortage he would have no problem in finding a welding job.
