  3. hi all! I am 160cm tall, and my weight in the past 5 years has escalated from healthy 54kg to 60kg to 65kg to now almost 70kg I used to be a healthy/fit person back home, when my ex-army dad would take me running every morning and I used to exercise almost daily.. but eversince I have been by myself here in AUS, i've been pounding more kilos... SERIOUSLY need to do something now... something effective... all my frens and family can't believe I have added kilos like this to a point where I have health problems even though i hate the idea of running, i hope it will give me a head start... anyone else have the same probs?? i'm sure i'm not the only one... The Weight Loss Thread

Ok, I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to lose weight for future medicals. Thought it might be nice to have a place where we can discuss tricks & tips, and keep the motivation up. (and yes I'm aware being overweight isn't crucial to the medical, but why take chances). So I'll start: I'm apparently 8 stone over my 'ideal' weight, although I reckon I would look silly at 10 and a half stone. I'd be delighted with getting down to 12st, and please getting to 14st. So, my first few days of restarting weight watchers, and I have lost 4 lbs  Nice start, long way to go

    Weight watchers

Hi all, I'm just in Secret Harbour visiting friends whilst in the middle of waiting for our visa. My husband and I have had a good look round and really like the areas around here however I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Weight watchers groups in the area or surroundings. Sad I know, but its one of my things! Cheers in advance Nikki

    Weight issue

Hi Just wondering if anyone knew what the rules were with regard to weight when applying to emmigrate to Oz? My BMI is currently 41 and we have got our medicals on Tuesday. I am worrying myself silly that this will be a problem. I have lost 5 stone and am in good health otherwise. Many thanks Bev P.S. I hope I've posted correctly - this is my first time!
  9. I'm flying next week with Singapore Airlines and only have the 20kg each plus hand luggage. Has anyone flown recently and found them lenient, especially with weight of hand luggage? Planning on taking at least 4 pieces of hand luggage and just know its all gonna be over the 5kg. I know their prices are steep if over! Why can't they waiver it a little or alot when emigrating, its a nightmare keeping it down!
  10. does anyone know how the shipping companys work? do they go on size of a crate / t chest or is it purely on weight or both? thanks in advance
  11. My OH told me the other night that he's worried about the medical. 10+ years ago he was treated for depression and was hospitalised on one occasion. He's worried that this might cause him to fail the medical. Does anyone think this will present problems? His concerns have sparked mine now! I'm now concerned as I'm very overweight. Other than TB & HIV what are they looking for? Could these be reasons to be rejected? :err: Thanks in advance for your help! nickyc

I was just wondering if like magic when i land in Brisbane (Jan 09) will i stop wanting to pig myself silly every night ??? Anyone slimmed down or please dont tell me pilled it on since arriving in a nice climate x
  16. Hello All Does anybody know how tough or lenient Cathay Pacific are with their luggage weight limits for long haul flights from the UK? I’m planning on flying to Australia with 26kg of checked-in luggage (allowance is 20kg). My hand luggage is likely to weigh about 12kgs though. There won’t be too much margin for safety on my part i.e. there won’t be much that I could throw away at the airport if I’m told to shed weight. I know that check-in staff occasionally allow excess weight at their discretion, but I don’t know how stringent Cathay are. Can any advise? Also, my trip is not a holiday – it’s emigration, therefore I’m going to ask them beforehand for a bit of leniency (it’s not as if I’m trying to take 40kg). They may oblige, or they may not! Worst case scenario is that I ditch all non-essential toiletries & clothes at the airport and pay excess on the rest. Many thanks

    Medical worries - Weight

How strict are they in the medicals? I'm really quite healthy, never off work ill etc however I do have a bit of a battle keeping my weight down and am currently a size 14-16. Thing is though I'm naturally very curvy and have always been heavy, even when a size 10 my BMI said overweight when I obviously wasn't. At the moment my BMI is 35 even though most of my clothes are a size 14. Does anyone think this is going to stop me getting in? I'm going as defacto to my very skinny bf if that makes a difference!? I'm starting to panic about everything now!!

  19. I seem to remember months ago reading on another forum that if you are emigrating and getting a one way flight to Aus then the baggage weight limit you have is slightly more, I think it was 5kg. Is this true? Do Qantas offer this? How do you go about getting the extra weight limit? Thanks

    Weight allowance

  21. Help before the Fiance drives me nuts! My missus is stressing about which clothes to take and leave behind when we come to Aus for a year in 4 weeks time. ) We are in Melbourne for the first few months working (Ascot Vale) and it feels like she wants to take everything shes worn since she was 10! (ladies i do understand your issue but it gets tiring) :wubclub: I say that if something means that much then take it - the rest of the stuff im sure we will find a shop that sells the same out there or better. If i list the following shops is there anything similar to give her piece of mind....(and my ears a rest!).....?? River Island, Boots, new look? Also on a Quantas flight (economy) does anyone know the luggage allowance? the website is confusing saying 32kg but i have a feeling it is around 20, am i far out? Thanks Tom

    Weight Loss Plan

Weight Loss Plan A man calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program. The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck. She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me." Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up. The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lbs. as promised. He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning and beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me." Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape. Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised. He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program. "Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program." "Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years." The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads,"If I catch you, you are mine!!!" He lost 63 pounds that week.
