  1. Hi, can anyone give us any feedback on these 2 schools as they are close together in the area we are looking at. We are coming over end of July, reccie and validation, would we need to make an appointment to view the schools or are you able to just turn up and have a look round? Thanks
  2. HI guys, just looking for some absolute honesty please. We have been living in Qld for 6 years and have been toying with the idea of moviing to WA. We were in Airlie Beach for 6 years, wonderful little town, but not too child friendly and we are now in a mining town 4 hours inland. My hubby has recently applied for a Fly in/out job so we are looking at place SOR. We have been out of city life for a while now but an hour on the train for us is perfect and a lot of you have sold the Warnbro/Secret Harbour/Port Kennedy area too us on here. But we will not be able to visit before hand, so I am relying on you guys to guide us. So bearing in mind we live 1.5hours to the nearest Wooloworths/ Coles and 3hours to a decent shopping centre at Rockahmpton. I need hard facts about these areas. What shops are local ie. IGA, Woolworths? Where can I do big shopping ie Target, Big W? Are the beaches dog friendly?? Which are the best kid friendly suburbs I have little girls, a 3yr old and 1yr old? I keep reading about British pubs in the area, are they any good with kids? Are there any local cafes, takeaways, Indians ?Bars ( hubby's requirements) Swimming pools or does everyone swim in the sea? Are there any good mums groups? I miss my very English mums group in Airlie Beach. Also what bout Kindergartens and daycare,is the ABC any good and will I have to book a place now for next year??? This was essential in Brisbane:eek: Crime? And does anyone have any pictures. Thanks in advanced, for any help, PIO is an excellent site, We love it. And hopefully this move will keep homesickness at bay for a little longer. Cheers Lis

    3 Days in Warnbro, Rockingham

Dear all thought i would give an update,i know we have only been here 3 days but we have done so much already. We flew from heathrow , with Singapore airlines, we arrived 4 hrs before, as its usually a nightmare getting from Lincolnshire, and we checked in straight away, with 8 suit cases, the allowance was 160kg for the 4 of us, i had one of those digital case weighers from argos, and i added that we had 7kg spare, which was spot on, no problem with the check in. Our fight left more or less on time, but hit really bad turbulance with about 3hrs to go to singapore, loads of people were poorly, including myself, but my youngest slept throughit.lol The flight from singapore was fine, going through immigration was straight forward and straight through to the exit where our land lord was waiting to take us to our rental. The place is fab, fully furnished and really gorgeous. We all wish we could stay longer but its only for 4 weeks, the place is in Warnbro and a shotr stroll to the beach...the sunsets are fab. The first day, a monday, we didnt get up till 11 am, but sorted out a hire car and did a big shop at coles and of course visited the liquor store!!!! On the second day we sorted out our driving licenses, which was a real drag, and had to do an eye test and fill out formsit cost us $37 each to transfer the license over to an Oz one and then a further $36,20 .We then activated our bank account and made an appointment to see a school and rental.........................then sat on the rockingham beach, it made us laugh to see folk in hats and scalves and gloves while we were in tshirts . Today we saw the rental place and didnt like it, the pics on the internet are very misleading and the agents hype the place up...so back to the list and made more appointments. We went to see the school, we have two boys 11 and 8yrs and they both loved the school, so hopefully we can get something in there catchment area. Then the last thing i did was sort my job out, at the hospital, more form filling etc, while i did all that my husband took the boys to aquajetty for a swim. Tomorrow is going to be more of a chill day as i think the jet lag is finally catching up. Oh i must say we did toast our new life in Oz with some bubbly stuff. Beckyx

    AWFUL rental in Warnbro

Hi everybody! We have rented a holiday villa in Warnbro recently and had MANY issues with it from it being dirty (took us half an hour to clean the filth off the b-b-q AFTER we'd had to go the shops to buy the equiptment to do it!!) and mainly the big selling point of the villa "The fabulous jacussi"...was BROKEN!! Now there's more than just these issues and we called the owners when we were there...they came to the house and told us that WE should get the jacussi fix ourselves! They didn't even phone to see if we'd been able to sort it out! We put an email together asking for $400 compensation (remember there were many other issues) back from the $1400 we paid. Now we have had an email back suggesting that we are unreasonable!! The people who rent out the villas take a $500 bond in case WE brake anything.....when the villa is ful of broken items we are supposed to put up and shut up are we??? We couldn't even use the garden because it was full of cigarette end and broken glass....on which Paul cut his foot!! We spent hours making sure it was spotless when we left....it was certainly in a much cleaner condition than when we arrived (and I took before and after photos to prove it!) Now...can I name this villa...because I would really like to warn other people? I will be writing a review on the website that I rented from 'STAYZ' (who are of course in no way responsible) Does anyone have any advise? Cheers Guys!! Lisa,x
