Hi One of my main concerns regarding moving to oz is my job prospects over there. My wife is a nurse and we have said that we are not going until she has a firm job offer. I would however have to find a job. I am presently employed as a Firefighter and have 13 years service and do not have another trade to fall back on. We were originally looking at the GC or Brisbane but I have just found out WA fire service are looking into recruiting directly from the uk as long as you have a number of years service and you have your PR.This is great news as I thought that we could come to WA and both have jobs and if we did not like it, well at least we are over there and it will be easier to find property jobs etc. However my wife has said that WA is too isolated and has spoken to a few people who feel like this. The girl on reception at my wifes gym said that she lived there for 8 months and would never go back. Another issue is that we are very young at heart. We are both 40 but are never in. Our kids are all grown up and only one lives with us. So every weekend we are out: weekends away, Live bands etc. We are looking at spending a max of $450,000 on a 4 bed house (will go to 3 bed but heart set on 4) and we dont want to be too far away from a beach (max say 1hr). On what I have said above, does WA sound like it is for us? We have been to the East side a couple of times and we are looking to go to WA next year for a reccie. Thanks for your posts in avance. JOHN
