  1. Hello, has anyone or known of anyone who failed their PR medical due to mental health? Ptsd? Anyone successfully appealed? My medical is in 2 weeks, I’m worried I’ll fail and worried about appealing and failing: My spouse and I are currently on a 457, we’ve both passed the medical before 2 years ago with no issues. Now that we’ve actually put in for our PR, we need to do an up to date medical. Since my last medical, I had a male manager At work who was (euphemism) very inappropriate with me and sadly, it stirred up a whole heap of childhood abuse flashbacks - I absolutely fell apart. During an acute phase between October 2018 & September 2019, I had hospital admissions due to dissociation and suicidle ideation also ongoing care from community mental health team. Since September, I’ve had the correct diagnosis of complex trauma and aspergers and intervention from a clinical psychologist which has me on the road to recovery at last. I also have a private therapist. The clinic are writing a letter to the medical doctor to say that they hope to discharge me soon and my private therapist has written one stating she will look after my care once I’m discharged. On this bridging visa now, we’ve been eligible to sign up for private health insurance to cover costs of any future hospitalisation but it’s unlikely with my prognosis I’ll need it. my partner has zero health issues and is main visa person - full time senior child practitioner. throughout my period of un wellness, I owned a small business making $10,000 and volunteered 2 roles for the hospital who treated me. I also have glowing references to say I’m welcomed back to my work places in Australia. I also have a mentor at the hospital who wants to employ me as a peer worker once I’m discharged. do you think my chances of passing the medical are strong? I can’t go back to the UK, life here is amazing despite those issues. thanks for reading- stressed and desperate to stay.

    887 Visa offshore Family

Hi I have 489 visa right. I have almost completed 02 years stay and one year full time work. Now I have to apply for 887 visa next month. I am in Australia but my wife and kids are struck overseas due to covid 19 crises and travel restrictions. Our 489 visa will be expiring on 02 Nov 2021. Can somebody please help me regarding following queries: 1) If I submit 887 visa for myself, can I add my dependent subsequent family members for 887 visa later on, when they are able to travel to Australia? 2) what will be the effect on our application, if I submit 887 only for myself at this stage?

    485 graduate visa

Does my wife need to be in Australia when I apply for 485 graduate visa? She is overseas and not with me on my student visa, so is it possible to add her on my initial 485 visa application while she is overseas.

    COVID Visitor Visa Extension

Hi, My mum is currently visiting on a e600 (3 month) Visa due to expire in May. Obviously current Chaos means, they cancelled her flight back to the UK, and in all honesty as she is fit and well (even at 70) and we are in Lockdown, I would rather her stay longer - I'm a Citizen and her only child. I'm about to apply for the Visitor Visa (should have done that in the first place) Does anyone know how much the 3-6-12 Month prices are? Thanks in Advance :) Stay safe all Lisa x

    Visa options ... confused

Hi this is my first post and I’m sorry if it’s been asked or I’m being silly basically we were applying to move to SA on a skills PV ( my husband is a chef) and the visa agency have just told us as we were finishing off that this is not available and nor is the temp 491 SA visa and our only option it to live to Victoria is this true, is there any other option as we really wanted to be in Adelaide near my family ( I’m not the main applicant so can’t use them) thank you in advance
  7. Hey I hope I posting this in the right place but I cannot find any answer online. So I applied for a subclass 820 visa for my wife and she's now on the bridging visa. I have a son who's already an Australian citizen. I was thinking about applying for a centrelink to help us since the visa took a toll on us, I was wondering if doing so might have any impact on the visa application? Thanks in advance!
  8. This perhaps should have been my first thread on this forum, but we live and learn  I am looking to obtain a Working Holiday Visa (417 subclass) and i meet all the provisional criteria. My main concern however, is the health requirements/restrictions that this visa is associated with. I am a 25 year old epileptic that has had the condition since i was 18 years old. The condition has be controlled for several years now, largely down to prescribed medication. I am still able to sanction a prescription of the medication, but it is very rare that i do these days, due to the fact that i can manage the condition with a healthy lifestyle. My last seizure was around 3 years ago. Anyway, i just wondering if anyone had any knowledge on the visas health requirements and what potentially i may be asked to do (in terms of medicals and providing details) in light of my condition? I appreciate that every case is individual and therefore different, but any guidance or information on the matter would be greatly received.
  9. Hi Does anyone know the email address for second stage partner visa 801 in Melbourne please (for permanent residency)? I have seen a previous thread that has the following email address but I think it is just for the ACT: act.ssp.processing@immi.gov.au I'm in Melbourne so the Melbourne office would be processing it. I haven't been assigned a CO as yet so thought I would see if I could get an update on if I was anywhere near to being assigned one. Thanks Smiler:biggrin:

    Ilets expiry date

So I'm on my immi account and it asks for the English test results within the 36 months immediately before the date of the invitation letter...now my test runs out in a couple of weeks but have until beginning of may for invitation submission...will it still be valid if I lodge in April for example? Or will visa be refused as test has run out??!
  11. Hello I'm just looking for advice and a good visa agent to take on our case... I am currently living and working in Broken Hill, NSW on a TSS visa. My partner is living in NZ but is from the UK, he is wanting to join me in NSW as a subsequent entrant as my partner on my visa. The issues we are facing is that we have been together for slightly over a year however only lived together for 3 months, so not sure what our chances are of him coming on my visa as de facto. I have read that registering your relationship in the state you live can waiver the requirements however not sure how true this is. We have plenty of evidence to meet all other requirements. Secondly my partner has a conviction from Australia in 2017 for assault on an officer- he was not placed in jail and released with 12 month good behaviour order. He also has 2 previous cautions from the UK from 10 years ago. No criminal record from the past 3 years in NZ. Obviously before applying for the visa we wanted to know how likely it is that he would be granted a visa especially based on the fact we haven’t lived together for a long time and his criminal record. Does the fact he is coming to live in a remote part of Aus with me have any benefit to our case? Would like some honest advice on the likelihood of a grant and a rough price from an agent. Thanks
  12. Certificate Attestation is a process of legalizing a document for use abroad. Certificate attestation is requires for visa, study in a foreign country. Since destination country has not any information about the authenticity of your documents so, they only accept documents attested or apostilled by relevant authority in your home country. All the document required for processing visa needs attestation. So, Before going abroad keep this in your mind to avoid any hassle.

    Info on Moving to Australia

Hi, Me and my partner are looking to move to Australia. We have 2 children also. Any information and help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  14. Would the secondary applicant of the 489 visa be able to stay in Australia and apply for permanent residency if the couple were to get divorced? They have a child also. Thank you.
  15. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me... I am on my second 417 visa which is due to expire October of this year. I'm currently working in Melbourne and living with my partner who is an Australian citizen. I'm planning on applying for the 189 visa as a secondary school teacher and have calculated that I have 85 points. I have completed my skills assessment and IELTS test and am ready to send off my expression of interest. However I did have a few concerns about the process; 1. When completing the expression of interest I was asked about my relationship status, I am not sure whether I classify as "never married" or as having a "de facto partner", my partner and I met over a year ago and having been living together for about 3 months now. I wasn't sure if this counted as de facto as I have read a number of conflicting things, e.g. for some purposes you're de facto as soon as you start living together, others its 12 months or 24 months. As I'm applying for 189 visa this doesn't make a difference for the points I'll receive as now you get the extra 10 points regardless of whether you're single or with an Australian PR/citizen, what I'm concerned about is the 8515 condition that will probably be attached to my visa if I state that I'm single (8515 - You must not marry or enter into a de facto relationship before entering Australia. We might cancel your visa if we find out you were engaged, married or in a de facto relationship before we granted you the visa but did not tell us.), or if I state de facto and am then asked for evidence that we've lived together for 12 months, which we wouldn't have. Just trying to fill out the form honestly but very unsure. 2. I'm planning on visiting the UK twice this year in April and July and my other concern was that if I get invited to apply then I have 60 days to lodge my application so it could end up that I've had to do this before my trips, and I'm aware that the visa itself could take between 4 and 11 months to be processed. When I applied for my second WHV after completing my farm work I was told that if I was in Australia when I applied then I would have to be in Australia when it was granted, I got a bridging visa A which also stated that I couldn't return to Australia if I left. I understand that the bridging visa only activates when your current visa expires, my 417 WHV doesn't expire until October 2020. So my question is...If I lodge my 189 application before the trips, can I still travel to the UK in April and July? I'll still have a valid 417 visa for this period, but would the Australian government require me to remain here until my visa has been processed? My original plan was to do everything ASAP because I really need to get the application lodged before my current visa expires so that I can get the bridging visa to stay here rather than having to return to the UK lodge form outside Australia. I thought that the process would be very long, I assumed that it would take ages for the skills assessment to be ready (this was done pretty quickly) and be a minimum of 3-4 month wait for your EOI to render an invitation, but form recent forums there have been some teachers with 70-75 points that say they got invitations within a month, some just 24 hours after submitting an invitation. I prefer to get things done sooner rather than later but I don't want to jeopardise either trip as its been nearly two years since I've seen my family and I'm not keen to wait until after the visa has been processed, but on the other hand it would make life very difficult if it did take longer and I didn't get it done before my current visa is up in October! I've spent the last few days scouring forums and reading the information on the government website but couldn't find anything similar to my situation and am still unsure as I know that the immigration department can be very strict and pedantic. Thanks so much to anyone that took the time to read (I'm quite thorough and a bit of a worrier!), really hope someone can help or offer some words of experience or wisdom! Cheers, Soph
  16. Hi all, pretty new to the site despite joining a while back. My partner is a mechanic and we have applied for 189 visa. We are currently sitting on 75 points and from what I've seen in December's invitation rounds on the Department of Home Affairs and also Iscah for January's rounds. Would it even be likely that we will be invited to apply for PR?
  17. Hi all, would appreciate some advice regarding applying for the 485 visa (post-study work stream) I'm currently on a student visa till the 31st of January. I am as yet undecided between continuing with postgraduate research or applying for a 485 visa, and was planning on making that decision around mid-April, upon which I'd know whether my research scholarship will be approved (in which case I'd apply for a student visa), or rejected (in which case I'd apply for a 485 visa). However, I came across the following stipulations that states that applicants must either have: held a student visa within the past 6 months before your application and now have a Bridging Visa A or Bridging Visa B, granted on the basis of a valid application for a visa held a student visa within the past 6 months before your application and now hold a substantive visa I had been planning on returning to my home country after my current student visa expires, whereupon I'd apply for the 485 around April (still within the 6 months period). However the condition that I must be within the country and holding a substantive or bridging visa prior to application concerns me. Is there any way I can still apply for the 485 visa after my current student visa expires? Could I potentially come in on a 3 month tourist visa (which I believe counts as a substantive visa, correct me if I'm wrong) prior to making my application for the 485 visa? Or should I just cut my losses and apply for a 485 visa anyhow before my current student visa expires? I'm less inclined to the second option as the 485 visa can only be applied for once (not to mention costly), and it'd feel like a waste to me if I'll end up just replacing it with a Student visa. Any advice would be much appreciated!
  18. Hi Friends, I need your help with what visa to apply for my partner. I am an Australian citizen and she is Nepalese. We first met in 2014 in Sydney where we studied together. She went back home in 2016 as her visa expired and she couldn't complete her points. We have been to Thailand tour in 2018 and I visited Nepal early last year where we got engaged. We have loads of pictures and conversations together since the time we met. Unfortunately, when she was here we do not have any shared expenses like House rent and bills as she stayed with her cousins. We plan to get married this December in Nepal and I want her to be with me in my return back to Sydney. A few options that I could think of are as follows: 1) Apply for a Prospective Marriage Visa and do a court marriage within the 9 month time period. However, I am unsure if she would get her visa by this December when we plan to marry in Nepal.. 2) Marry in December and she travels with me here on Tourist Visa. Once she is here we do a court marriage and apply for Partner visa so she can go into Bridging and continue staying here.. I am just confused and would appreciate some help. Thank You!

Moving back to UK after living in Aus, (NEED HELP)

Hi all, new to the forum. So i feel as if i have a relatively unique situation. I was born in Nottingham, England, 5/8/1997. My parents moved to Australia in 2002. We have lived here since. However my partner and I with our young daughter 1 year 8 months have made the decision to move back to England. I am now an Australian citizen, my partner is a New Zealand citizen and our daughter an Australian citizen. My partners mum was born in Birmingham as well just for a little historical context so she has ties to the country also. The questions I then have are as follows: Am I eligible to obtain a British passport and move back home or do i need to obtain a visa? What visa will my partner need to obtain? (we arent married) Who is the best person/company/government office to contact in order to start the process of making the right moves to get home. Maybe a stab in the dark also but is there any predicted change to this if Brexit passes? Thank you to anyone who responds, my head is spinning trying to get around all this and i could really do with some pointers!!!!

    491/489 Job Prospects

Hi folks, I’m looking to relocate to NSW on a 491 visa. I was wondering if anyone has any experience finding jobs on a 489/491 regional skilled provisional visa? I ask because I currently hold a 476 Recognised Graduate visa valid for 18 months, but employers don’t want to know because it’s temporary. I’m worried that, since the 491 is technically ‘temporary’ (5 years and there is a clear and defined pathway to PR) I’ll be wasting $4k for the same results! For a bit of background, I’m a recent chemical engineering grad working in refining in the UK but hoping to move over to Aus and get into the water treatment business. I’ve been trying for 3 months now to get something on my 476 visa but it’s not looking likely! Does anyone have any experience that they can share? All the best, Kai

    What visa for Aussie Spouse?

Hi, I’m hoping someone on here may have some knowledge. I’m Scottish and my husband in Aussie. We are considering a move back to Scotland in the next few years and are looking into visa’s. I’m wondering what visa would be the best to go on as I’m finding all the options very confusing. His grandmother was born in England and so I think he could get an ancestry visa. However with the £2000 NHS fee and the £500 visa fee it’s expensive. I thought Australia and the uk had a kind of health care agreement?!!! It doesn’t look like it though! Or would we be best going on a spousal visa? I’m finding it hard to get a lot of info on the spousal visa - does anyone know much about this? It is cheaper? Easier? We also have 2 kids born Australia but I’d probably get them uk passports before we go and I’d assume they wouldn’t need anything else. Any experience with either visa would be great! Many thanks
  23. Hello everyone Please can someone help me with my Skills Assessment applicaton to AITSL. I am a secondary teacher with 3 years experience, I completed my PGCE with a University alongside doing a SCITT with a teacher training organisation at the same time. It was a joint course where the university and the teacher training organisation worked together. I completed my PGCE which consisted of three modules each worth 20 credits and my supervised teaching practice (45 days plus) at a secondary school was completed through the SCITT. I am worried I will not be accepted by the AITSL as my 45 days + surpervised teaching practice was not completed wthin the PGCE but within the SCITT. After checking the AITLS website it says that they require a transcript from the University outlining my supervised teaching practice. I have this from the Teacher Training Organisation who ran my SCITT but not the University who provided the PGCE as they wont provide me with one. Has anyone had any experience of completing their skills assessment witihin the same circumstances or have any advice they can give me? Thanks
