  1. So I was watching the morning programme today and they were talking about how social networking sites, email etc are replacing face to face interactiona dn how this is negative for families and I was thinkin... I can totally see what they are saying the kids get home from school and lock themselves in their room to talk to their friends on fb or whatever, but I remember I used to get home from school and want to phone my friends (which I know was ridiculous). Personally I used to totally hate FB becauseof all the malicious things that can happen on there but now since Ihave created a page with only a few ACTUAL friends who I actually want to keep in touch with (not people I went to school with 20 years ago and treated me like crap but wat me to add to their numbers, no thanks) I have enjoyed FB. I do understand for kids though, the more friends you have the better your social status at school or whatever. It is something I worry about for my children being cyber bullied or something. Another thing is that lately, being lonely at home, social networking like PIO has helped me feel better and has been more supportive than actual people I have met in person. It has actually contributed to my ongoing recovery from the black dog. Is that wrong? Before I would never have dreamed of social networking because I thought it was evil and could cause further self esteem issues ie. if no one friends you or replies to your posts. But I think it could have a negative impact on families in the future. But is it any worse than the folks who chuck their kids in front of the tellie? I know I am sitting here and the baby is asleep and I should be doing housework......BUT.....I also know I will not get any other adult interaction for the rest of the day. hmmm?

  3. Hi all, just wanted to share with you this site that I have just found by accident!! Its called working abroad virtual expo (link below) I've only had a quick browse but it looks pretty much like a one-stop-shop as it has all sorts of links to various other sites. although the title inferes that the site is only about work it seems much more than that with all the other links to things like education, banking etc. I haven't had chance to take part in any of the live chats but there appears to be certain times of the day when you can speak to representatives from a variety of different organisations. Working Abroad Virtual Expo | Emigrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand | Working Holidays | Volunteering and more. You need to register a few details which takes just a few minutes and then complete a 'compatability test' which just asks you a few more details about any specific information you may be looking for. Hope you find it useful  Tracy

    Virtual Expo

Working Abroad Virtual Expo | Emigrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand | Working Holidays | Volunteering and more. For anyone who is interested.....I found this virtual expo LIVE today.... it covers more than Oz, but does seem to have alot of Oz "exhibitors". You have to register your details, but it then streamlines best match exhibitors based on your profile. You can also chat live with exhibitors I've only just logged in, but it looks like there's some useful info.....there are recruiters, removals, some of the Aus Gov'ts and DIAC with virtual stands.... Anyway the link is above if anyone fancies have a look!!!
