Hi All, I'm looking to move back to Brisbane shortly, after having a few years in England. I'd like to ship my motorbike over, but I'm a bit confused by the whole process. I've read loads about what to do, but I have no real concrete informaton which is what concerns me. The bike is 27 years old and I will be applying for a personal import permit soon (I've almost owned the bike a year). I'll need to get a crated, door-to-door service. Could anyone give me some advice on what happens when it gets to Oz? The model of bike is available there, so it's my understanding that it will just need a personal import plate as it should already be compliant? Would it need to be inspected by an engineer for $1000's or would it just need a basic inspection to get the purple import plate and then a rwc? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks, Ross

A friend was involved in a crash at the weekend-not at fault. They are on a working holiday visa. there visas end in april, october and november ( if that is relevant ). They have been injured. but unsure what to do.Can they claim being british and on a WHV?As one is going home in april but is injured, what should he do?Thanks GuysDavid

Greetings people. I've got a query I hope someone can kindly provide advice for. I've arranged to ship my VW camper van UK to Oz. Import approval etc all arranged. I know the van will be charged duty on arrival according to it's value. I'm wandering - Should I get the valuation done here in the UK before it's shipped or should I wait until it's landed in Oz? Naturally I want to minimise the value to reduce duty and I know the van is significantly cheaper here in the UK. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance.

Afternoon all... Thought I'd post my query just in case anyone else has encountered the same issues as I'm currently facing. Have just collected my vehicle from the docks and taken it to a LPG specialist here to get the system certified only to be told that the LPG tank is not compliant and will need to be replaced at a cost of $1200!!!! :swoon: The system was fitted in the UK in 2008 and I have all the certification to support it and had expected that getting it certified here would be fairly straight forward. I have looked in to thinks and the tank manufacturer do show that they comply to Australian standards so will have to push things a little and am awaiting a response from the LPG Association Australia, but in the meantime was wondering if anyone else had any experience of importing an LPG converted vehicle. My husband is keen to buy a 2006/7 VW Caravelle 7 Seater for around £8-10,000 (or a later model if we can afford it) . We have just started our paperwork so will have had it the 12 months by the time we (hopefully) get accepted/arrive. Is if worth bringing it with? hi all, just registered to the site this evening as am curious. i am 22years old and from the uk i work in the vehicle repair motor industry, and have nearly 6 years of full time experience, i also hold an nvq level 2 in panel beating but unfortunatley havent had much chance to develop my skills in this area but have been working in the "prep" section for 5 years and am fully confident in the majority aspects of repair, filler work, priming repairs, flatting, masking ready for paint. have done bits a bobs in paint and would be very keen in taking this further. just wondered what my options were and what potential earnings are out there? cheers guys
