Skills assessment - 186 Visa (Accountant / Valuer)
hsingh1695 posted a topic in Working and Skilled Visas
Hi, I am currently on a subclass 482 dependent visa working as a plant & equipment valuer in a reputed organisation in Australia. My organisation is willing to sponsor my PR (186). However, since I have less than 3 years of experience in Australia, they have asked for a positive skills assessment. I understand that a valuer is a category A occupation and VETASSESS requires a positive skills assessment in both education and experience. I have around 4 years of experience as a valuer across different organisations in India and Australia but I have not undertaken a formal study in the field of valuation. I am a Mechanical Engineer and have post grad degree as an MBA. Would VETASSESS consider my application without a formal study undertaken in the field of valuation? Separately, a lot of work that we do is for accounting and taxation purposes for the client. I have tried applying with CPA for skills assessment as an accountant but they have noted that I do not meet certain criteria and have asked me to complete a foundation exam on Financial Accounting and Reporting. Does the different authorities CPA, CAANZ and IPA have different criteria of judging? Do they talk to each other if I were to apply a skills assessment with different authority? What is the best way out of it?- 2 replies

Hi there, I am in my final year of my Bachelors degree and soon I will be going on a temporary graduate visa. I am doing an API accredited degree - Bachelors of Business with a major in Property. After my graduate visa I am planning to nominate Valuer or Land Economist as my occupation. Just wondering if anyone has applied for this occupation already ? How was your experience ? Any advise (besides studying another degree ) don’t think I can study another degree or take on masters. Or if anyone can point me in the right path. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone have the similar situation and might help me out. I have a metallurgy and material engineer bachelor degree in my home country. Having work experience as a valuer, i would love to have master degree in valuation to know more about my profession as well as to push my luck about finding a valuation related job after my graduation. I need to work for a qualified valuer for 2 years working experience and after than i can apply to Api to gain registration, what i am confused about is vetassess skills assessment criteria which is: Qualification/s assessed at Australian Bachelor Degree or higher degree with a highly relevent field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevent employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years. Let's say that i worked for a qualified valuer for 2 years on 485 visa and then how i will be able to gain "at least one year of post-qualification highly relevent employment at an appropriate skill level completed" when 485 visa would have been expired(during 2 years), to get positive skill assessment from vetassess and then claim for points Master degree for skilled migration? Any expert advice would also be appreciated!

Dear all, I am emigrating with my wife in 4 weeks and we are taking our car. I had organised for a valuation to be undertaken by a gentleman in Melbourne but sadly he has taken ill and been hospitalised. Can anyone recommend an approved valuer and provide details of what they charge? Thanks in advance! J -

Hi can anyone answer the following for my 165 investor visa? I have to get a current valuation on my home to evidence it's value. I am told 'an acredited valuer' is required. I'm an Estate Agent and work in the same town as my house, the value of which I study on a daily basis. However I am not 'Credited' with any formal valuing qualifications. Although informally I'm an expert on this subject. Will it mean I have to get a surveyor to value my property? Can anyone help as to get it wrong could mean we get turned down. thanks
