  1. Hello! I have a little bit of a tricky one and I was hoping someone has had a similar experience.. I am planning to submit my Partner visa application before the end of 2021. I am a UK citizen, and I worked in America from June 2011 until May 2012. As per the Australian Government website, it states that I must obtain a criminal background check from any country I have lived in for 12 months within the last decade. I will be able to get a UK disclosure no issues, however for the American one I must get my fingerprints taken at a local police station, send them off to the FBI who then provides an identity history summary or 'rap sheet'. My question being, will this be required if I haven't technically worked in America for 12 months within the last decade, due to the time frame of when I am submitting it and when I worked there. I was just looking for some advice really as I'm in two minds whether to just send off my fingerprints now 'just in case' and to potentially stop any additional delays or would I have to wait until my case officer requests this specifically? Thanks so much in advance! x
  2. Hello all, This website was AMAZING for me when I was applying for my permanent residency. A lot of the information here helped me navigate the process of applying for and being granted my 190 visa by myself. My American friend is now in the same situation but is struggling to find a website similar to this one that's tailored to Americans. Can anyone point us in the right direction? Is there a group on this site that have US Citizens in the same position? She is trying to get her 189/190 visa (she's applying for both). She's a Civil Engineer and has all the points needed as well as confirmation from Engineers Australia that she's a qualified engineer. The biggest hurdle she's coming up against is the police check from the US. Does anyone know if the Federal check from the FBI will suffice or if she needs to get state and local ones as well....? Thanks in advance! You guys are awesome!

That was the week that was.....(6)

The second wave in Victoria; UK pledging another £30B to keep the economy going; An up and down week in the Euro and yet more division and dis-unity in the un-United States of America. That Was the Week that Was. https://www.moneycorp.com/en-au/news-hub/weekly-brief-03-july-20202/
  4. I have searched the internet for an answer and can't find one. My husband and i need a USA police check (FBI check). We have different surnames. Should we send these separately in different envelopes or can we send them together? This seems like such a trivial question but I'm really confused by this. I'm guessing it should be sent in separate envelopes? Kind regards.

    Statutory declaration in the USA

Hi All, I am trying to get a Statutory declaration done for the ACS in the US. Anyone know what the process is for the same? I am not sure if USA has stamp papers like in India, how do they do the stat declaration and who does the same? It will be really helpful if someone can let me know of the process in USA.I heard that the stat declaration needs to be done only on stamp paper. Do the attorney help you do that in the US? Anyone has any experience of doing stat declaration in the US Thanks.
  6. We are applying for partner visa offshore application (Subclass 309). I (husband/spouse/sponsor) am an Australian Citizen (Indian nationality) living in Sydney,Australia. My wife (applicant) holds Indian passport but residing in USA on H1 Visa (Work Visa). We met in India on Feb 2014 and we got married on Mar 2014 (in India), in about a month from the time we met. (Both of us was visiting our family in India on holidays) our marriage was an arranged marriage, arranged by both of our parents, family and friends. When we met we liked each other and said yes (I know this sounds a little weird). We have Marriage certificate and the photos of marriage and reception, wedding cards, viber chat history, the few sms's that we sent to each other over Cell network. Wife is currently in USA Now I am little concerned whether the immigration people will consider this as a genuine case or not. (given the relationship time period)? And about the income - I am on very low income around $15500 for the last 2 tax assessment years, (never been on welfare). And the previous to these assessment years the income was around $37,000 - $38,000/yr. I am working at the present time with a yearly salary of around $32,070/yr (before tax). And also have a savings account of around $30k (have been saving up in the past) with proper bank statements. I was wondering if financial support is of any issue for the DIAC to approve? (I read somewhere about income and it was written around $25k/yr as a threshold, so was unsure if there would be any issue with my application. Your suggestions/comments are appreciated...) Processing time frame - I have checked with Australian High commission in USA and they said the processing time for Partner visa is around 8-12 months. Has anyone applied recently and I would be very glad if you are happy to share your experience. What is the best way to apply via online/Post? Any recommendations/suggestions are very much appreciated on this case.... Thanks for reading and will look forward to hear from you...

    PCC requirement

I got the invitation to apply for the visa through skill select. I have lived in U.S. for more than 1 year but never continuously for more than 9 months. Do I still need to get the criminal record check from FBI?
  8. Hi. I have a couple of questions please and would appreciate any advice from anyone with experience in this area. I came to OZ on a Tourist Visa, subclass 676 to visit my fiancé to see Australia and decide if this is where we wanted to live. My 676 Visa was granted for 12 months and expires at the end of February 2013. We were married in May have decided to stay here so I need to apply for a Temporary and Permanent Visa for myself, as my husband is an Australian citizen. My question is, should we apply for the Visa while I'm in Australia or should I travel back to the United States of America and apply from there? My fear is that if I apply for it while I'm in OZ, it won't get approved before my tourist Visa runs out. I've tried to find answers as to timelines on approvals but what I've read seems very confusing. Seems there are many different situations and so many different experiences on the time it has taken others. Some recommend that I go back to the USA and apply from there as the wait time could be shortened??? Also, since the information I've read indicates you must stay in the country where you apply until you receive the approval, being in the USA would not cause me worry on it not getting approved in a limited amount of time. Applying in Australia would create a window of time it would have to be approved, since my Visa expires in February 2012. Unless there is something I'm not understanding correctly? Any comments or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

  17. I've been fortunate enough to have lived in the USA, Australia and the UK. Unfortunately, that means I now have to apply for police checks with all three countries to support my 176 application! I'm currently living in Scotland, so will be sending apps for the USA and Australia overseas. I would appreciate any general advice/experiences, but here are my specific questions: 1. USA - how do I go about getting my fingerprints taken? Can I drop into my local UK cop shop and get them to do it? 2. UK - The Character Guidance says to apply to the ACPO, but this only explicitly covers England, Wales and NI. Are they the correct authority for Scotland as well? 3. Australia - how do I pay? They don't have a credit card form, don't want cash and insist on payment in AUD (so no cheques)... Thanks!!
  18. Hi All, I live in the USA and recently I've been asked for PCC from my case officer. I need to submit PCC from Australian federal police. AFP accepts either Australian bank checks or money orders. Can someone please tell me how I can get a money order in Australian dollars in USA? Thanks GS
  19. Hi all! I am a USA resident and am in the process of gathering all of the appropriate forms for a fiance visa to Australia to be able to marry my fiance. My fiance and I were together for over 8 years in the USA. We did not complete is process for him to stay in the USA legally and he was just sent back to Au. Boy...what a process with all the forms and letters! I am baffled by the whole process, but we want me to come there legally so that we may marry there and remain there together. Any advice is welcomed. I have inquired with several visa consultation specialists and they are so expensive to use. I am hoping that we can do this on our own. We have been going through all the check lists of papers we need and that is the simple step. What is intimidating me is the letters we are supposed to write about "us". Does anyone have any letters they might want to share as an example? I have a list of what they want us to cover in the letter. My dilemma is how much detail to go into. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks for any help, Tami
  20. Hi, I need to apply for ACS and I need to have my documents certified as true copy from USA. I have been to Citibank and one other bank where I hold my account and there they were doing the following -Asking me to certify that this document is true copy of original and my signature on that. -On this they were writing theor name, address, signature and mentioning sworn before Notary. I want to know if this is sufficient for ACS. If not what I can do for this from US. Cheers Srini
  21. Hi all, long shot this because most of the posters here are from the UK I take? I'd like to know if a California Notary Public is good enough for certifying copied documents for visa app? It's just one of those strange things - all of the lawyershere I called said they don't offer a certification service (stupid really, all they need to do is put their name on it). And in California, it seems the only place is Notary Public (they don't have a Justice of Peace here either). Also how do I go about to make a statutory declaration (for a de facto partnership)? CHeers
