  1. I'm looking for 2 bedroom unit to buy around Sydney. I have a budget around 450k. I've been looking around Parramatta, but prices are high over there (over 500k). Any suggestions what other suburbs to look at? Just wanted to hear what everyone's thoughts are, and find out if it is actually feasible to find 2 bedroom units with 450K budget around Sydney (< 1hr train ride from the city).
  2. Hi All I'm moving into a unfurnished unit in January and want to source the best electric company and the best internet company. I want an electric company that has good customer service as well as being cheap - do any do scheme where they give u money back if you haven't used a lot etc (or something like that)? I know you can't have it all but I will have a damn good try!!!! For the wifi internet - I need really good internet connections. I'm not to sure about having television - digital or otherwise. I've managed to live without a tv for the last few months and its quite nice. However I thought it may be useful to have a 'landline' telephone as well as internet. Also I have seven working days to do the house checks etc when I move in. I've been around twice and already noted damage, wear and tear but how do i keep good records of this - I thought a video would be good but then how do I store it and give the agents/landlord a copy - disc? Anyhow any ideas, tips, or not so helpful advice I will be pleased to receive. BEGal - presently waiting to get out of the current landlady's clutches. p.s. I'm sure she's gonna stiff me for my 4 weeks 'bond' as I am a lodger and we don't have many rights. p.p.s comments appreciated on house contents insurance too?
  3. We will be going overseas and are looking to rent our 3 bedroom unit + balcony in Manly between 22/03 - 26/04. It's fairly large (around 100 sqm), less than a hundred meters from the beach itself. Fully furnished and suitable for families (we have 2 boys with toys, Xbox etc.), large 50" TV, fast internet and more. You can see and hear the ocean from living room, balcony and kitchen. Located in a quiet part of the famous Manly beach, yet easy walk to to tons of shops, restaurants, bars, playgrounds and all the goodness that Manly has to offer including the ferry that takes you to Sydney CBD. We are not looking to make a profit, just to cover our costs and the price is very low compared to similar properties in area. If you are arriving to Australia at this time, or just want an affordable holiday in paradise, this can be an ideal solution for everyone. Happy to provide more information including pictures etc - please send me a private message

    Renting unit in Bunbury

Hi everybody! My family(me, my wife and just 1-year old son) is moving to Bunbury in November 2011 holdind 475 visa. Renting property overseas is almost impossible and inconvinient of course as you have to see the place you gonna live in advance. Hotel/motel is a good idea but I didn't expect that it is really expensive. Motels that I've found on tripadvisor or similar site have the avarage rate is about 120-140per night. Maybe it is costy due to high season but anyway I don't like spending 4 times more for motel as I'm expecting to rent a 1 or 2 bedroom unit just for 200-230$/week. That is why if anybody could recommend me more affordable living or share a room for a reasonable price just maybe for a week or two before I find a place to live in:smile:. Can pay in advance) Just send me private massage

It's in dark wood and you can either store a tv (around 32 inches within the cabinet) or any size on top. Amble additional storage for dvds, music etc also. Currently in Melrose Park, Sydney collection is a must as its a fairly large and heavy piece of furniture. Photos available on requested and open to sensible offers. Please private message me

  11. Treasury warning on home price 'bubble. A SENIOR Treasury official has sounded the alarm over Australia's property market. He has warned that the prospect of a sudden and dramatic drop in prices is "the elephant in the room" and should not be ignored by the federal government. While the government and Reserve Bank insist Australia does not have a housing bubble - as some economists and the International Monetary Fund suggest - it remains such a worrying concept that Treasury has privately sought reassurance from its analysts that prices are not artificially high and that Australia does not face the kind of house price collapse that has hit Britain and the US. Documents obtained by The Weekend Australian under Freedom of Information laws show the Treasury officials preparing the so-called Red Book of briefs for the incoming government were as divided as private sector economists about the strength of the property market. Definitely something going on in Melbourne..... according to SQM Research there are about 35K houses, units and apartments for sale in Melbourne..... e.g. Bayside alone 2,500....
