  1. Hi all I have a telephone interview for a clinical nurse post within Adult Community Mental Health..Gold Coast on Tuesday evening. I have to admit I am a bit nervous because I do tend to talk even more rubbish than normal when I am on the phone:wacko: I have been looking on the forum for ideas but haven't seen anything specific for mental health. Does anyone have any ideas on what sort of questions to expect? Thanks Pam xx

    Customs strike on Tuesday

I was happily surfing away when I came across this article in the age, and just in case nobody else was aware have posted the link. In short - there might be some delays in customs/quarantine processing at all Australian international airports on Tuesday. I also saw this rather interesting opinion piece in the Age online - well I think it was interesting anyway It's nice to see someone stand up and say 'you've got it good!' Link to an article in the Age Cheers
  4. We now have our permanent residency visas & are flying out to Perth permanently on tuesday!!! Its been a stressfull few weeks but the packers came in last wednesday so the stuff for the boat has now gone although it does take 84 days to get there!!! I do feel slightly less stressed now that stuff has gone but still got loads to pack as we are allowed 30kg each for the plane. I cant find anything now as most things are packed. Cant wait to chill on plane with a glass of wine!!! The nerves r definately kicking in now, the kids left school yesterday & while my 5 year old just shrugged it off my 8 year old was very upset. We had our leaving party aswell last night, it was very emotional & my eyes r swollen today from crying!! Still I know this move is the right thing to do & that our children will have better futures, this is what keeps me going!! Cant wait to get settled but I know that will take a while. I think the day my husband gets a job is the day when I will finally relax a little. He is a plasterer so if anyone knows of any jobs available (pref north perth) let us know. I will also be working but in a month or so as need to settle the kids in first. I have worked in civil service admin for the last 10 years so I will be going into office work part time, 2 or 3 days a week. We are hiring a car for the 1st couple of weeks to give us chance to buy a car, we are after a 4 wheel drive so if anyone knows of any for sale let me know. Anyway I will keep you all informed of our progress so to be continued......................:eek:
  5. Hello All, We will arrive in Redcliffle late Tuesday night and we are staying at the Redvue Appartments. It's the first time the boys and I have been to Oz. Wondered if anyone might like to meet up or give us a small tour of the area? We are a family of four with two boys who will be 2 and 4 in August. It would be great to meet other families in the area. Thanks Louise

  7. Was successful with various interviews with my company and was yesetrday offered a 2-year secondment with them in Williamstown Melbourne on a 457 visa. The package details so far seem excellent, in general terms; 1-set of flights for the family each year, 4-weeks accommodation and car hire on arrival, $15,000 taxable lump sum in first wage, $1,500 non-taxable LAFHA, Medical cover, 20 cubic feet per adult shipping. I've got so many questions that the OH & I want to ask, and I appreciate that people prepare years for such a move, but this has been a bit of a whirlwind for us and has only happened in the past 2-months. Booked in for a telecon. with company's Australian HR on Tuesday night and then I will find out the complete package i.e. Salary, so the OH & I can do our sums. So if all goes well, I could be posting quite a few cries for help and would be grateful for anyones input. Thanks, The Hippo

  11. Hi guys, Ok it's go-time. I am sadly unable to give you a name, but my agent just told me that the states are meeting with DIAC tomorrow (Tuesday) on GSM priorities, and it would be a massive boost if we went onto the forums to get everyone to ring, mail, carrier pigeon and sky-write to their sponsoring states today. He felt that the state's will need to go into the meeting with a unified sense of outrage and moral commitment, or as usual they’ll get creamed by the Commonwealth playing them all off against each other. I realise that you have absolutely no reason to believe me other than I do not have form for winding people up or causing rifts on PiO, and that my thanks-to-posts ratio is pretty high. However, what's the worse thing that can happen? You remind your sponsoring state that you exist, that you have been badly treated and you are still ready to move ASAP to help them solve their skills shortages? Here's a link to the senators' contact coordinates. I'm sure a number of other senior posters on here have a list of other parties that ought to be CC:d in on any correspondence. However, I'd probably not send it to the DIAC drones, given they'll be sitting on the other end of this flaming. Parliament of Australia:Senate:Senators:Senators' Parliament House and State/Territory addresses, phone and fax numbers A few hundred or so e-mails from SS holders to each respective state ought to get the point across. Good luck! //Mach

  15. Welllll.. Yesterday I went for my medical in notts, was early so got sent to the xray first, had the xray done and came out the car then broke down in the car park... bugger I had to rush in 3 minutues to find number and get a taxi, and left ant with the car, 9 pounds later I get to my medical and have it. ... Nothing much to it really. 3 hours later ant calls me and said his battery is about to die on his phone, the car wont start he is gonna walk to me... now 6 miles later a sun burn and sweaty anthony comes in (took 1.5 hours bless him) I couldnt leave though as I couldnt ring him due to the phone being out of battery, and we dont know nottingham at all so would have got lost! After all this time the lady then felt sorry for us and gave us a lift back to the xray place where the car is. (I had been sat in the receiptiong about 3 ish hours!!) But she made me a cuppa. It still wouldnt start once we got back to the car, we waiting a few more hours for Ants sister to come and get us. waiting 7 hours in total through the day!!!, Then went back to it today after quickly joing RAC last night, RAC came out to us and fixed it temp like, now its not working again and I the garage cant see it until Monday, It sucks pretty bad also the cost to fix it! We dont have any money to spare at the momement! BUT we got a case officer today, they only need medical results and form80! Wooo Hooo but what a CRAP Tuesday!

  17. Anyone let us know how clean was their outdoor things. We are in the complete mess of packing for the packers on tuesday and we can't believe we are going to be ready for them!! Unfortunately the great british weather has struck again and its pouring and we are trying to power wash bikes and trampolines and out door furniture and then get it DRIED !! My question is really to do with the following: RUST - do they mined a bit of rust on bikes ?? Also our trampoline has a few tares around the blue edging and although we have powered it and washed down with jeyes, are they going to think because it is a bit tatty, they won't let it in ?? Our out door table is iron and was hand made but again there are some rust bits on it. What does anyone think?? My god I wish we had started the cleaning and packing and dumpping alot sooner!!! Yvonne
