    Travel Insurance

Hi Guys, Just so your aware, this is not regarding shipping and removals I was wondering if someone could help me with the insurance side of things. I am going on a Working Holiday Visa and I have been looking at insurance through various companies and they all seem to offer the same thing. For example, STA travel. They offer insurance, Standard, Premium etc. But it only involves repatriation back to the UK if injured. This has got me wondering, what if I am in Australia and I fall ill or involved in an accident? From my point of view, I will need to go to my local Australian doctor and seek advise or the local hospital to receive medical treatment. If I need prescribed medication, what do I do? Can anyone please point me in the right direction on this. Are there any insurance companies that will cover me in Australia or will i have to enroll in their health services? How do I go about this? Kind regards Corey

  5. Hi there, I am moving over to Oz next week and am wondering if anybody could help re travel insurance? Stupid question, but do I need to get travel insurance for when I am in oz- I have de facto sponsorship, subclass 309, but am wondering about how to cover my health whilst i am out there. I know I am eligible to be on Medicare, but if something (god forbid) happens, will I also be covered or should I take a trip to the post office and get myself some travel cover? im also not 100% sure what my cover is with dental? Any help would be really appreciated!!!! thanks in advance! zo
  6. Hi Poms in Oz! I'm excited to be moving to Melbourne next week on a 12-month working holiday visa... However, I'm a bit confused as to what kind of insurance I'd need when I go out there. I've been told I'd need an annual policy, however have found that a lot of these limit trips to 31 consecutive days three times a year. I've spoken to one person who said that she was landed in serious debt when she was living out there and broke her arm, because she didn't buy insurance before she went out. Can anyone help? Thanks! Fi
  7. Hi there. We are about to make the big move a week on Sunday! I am currently looking into removal insurance to cover our shipping container whilst in transit and some one way travel insurance for our family of five. We're doing a couple of stopovers, for 3-4 nights each, on the way. I've looked at the older posts but was wondering if anyone has had recent quotes or advice on either of these issues that they are willing to share. I have been quoted £400 by our removal company to cover up to £20'000. Thanks in advance
  8. Hi We are travelling to Perth this Sunday and looking at travel insurance. I am aware of medicare but didn't look into it much. I have now seen on some posts that there is no need for travel insurance. I will be working on a whv and my gf will be on a tourist visa. If things work out we may stay on and hopefully get sponsored with the construction companyill be working with . Please accept my apologies if this has been answered umpteen times - but we just need to know if it worthwhile forking out a couple of hundred pounds each for the annual cover? If not please can you confirm the medicare procedure and level of cover we would be granted. Thanks for any of your help Paddy

Travel Insurance - one way cover

Hi all! Does anyone have a recommendation for one way travel insurance cover. We're leaving the UK at the end of the month and travelling via Thailand and NZ before landing in OZ. We initially thought our bank would cover us in the UK as we hold a policy with them, but it turns out we were wrong as we are not returning to the UK.:arghh: So if anyone who has previous experience please advise. Another issue is valuable items i.e. engagement rings. Thanks for your help in advance!!!
  10. Hi everyone I am flying to Sydney on December 29th but still haven't got any travel insurance! When I have tried to get some with some of the main insurers in the UK they will only insure me until I come back to the UK - which will probably be next Christmas for a holiday. Its going to cost me around £300 to £400 for a years insurance but I only want to be insured for the couple of days travelling. Has anyone else overcome this and where did you get insurance from? I'd be grateful for any suggestions Thanks Rachel
