Hi Just wondering what the personal trainer industry is like in the Sydney area. I’m moving over with my OH (she has sponsorship) I currently run my own sports therapy / personal training company and would like to set something similar up over there. Any tips from PT’s or a client would be very much appreciated.

Hello everybody, I am in my mid thirties, planning to spend a couple of years in Australia (Sydney or Perth). My profession is on SOL, but I don´t plan to work in this job. I have a second profession as an intercultural trainer in which I am working as a freelancer in Norway at the moment. I have absolutely no idea about chances in this field in Australia. Is there anybody in this forum who has experience or knows people working as intercultural trainers? In Europe this profession becomes more and more important, but I think in a multicultural society as the australian there might be no need (?). Any advice would be helpful. Thanks a lot! Happy Easter! Sunshine

Hi all. This is my first visit to your forum, it looks very helpfull. My wife and I are looking to join our daughter and partner in Brisbane but wonder if our qualifications will be accepted and our age. I am 60 and my wife, Linda, 61. Linda is qualified Radiographer and I am a Qualified Teacher (Cert. Ed.) specialising in Gas. I have qualifications in: H&S, Cert. NEBOSH Teaching, Cert. ED. and TDLB NVQ3 + Assessor and Internal Verifier awards Domestic Gas, C&G, ACS Core Gas Safety + all Appliances and ESP Provider Commercial Gas, ACS Core + all Appliances, Test and Purge, Pipe. LPG, Core + Boats, Mobile Homes Water, Unvented, Regs, Disinfection Electric, Essential electrics + Part P Renewable Energy. I also develop training materials, have worked with QCA in developing NVQ's and Key Skills. I have 43 years experiance in the industry and 30 years in training/assessing. My Daughter should get her citesenship this year and will sponser us and paren visa and we can pay the money to speed it up but it would be useful to work, topping up our savings and keep an interest. Any advise and help would be greatly appreciated. Rick

Hi Guys, This is a question for my defacto. Has anyone any info on transfering Irish and American Fitnesss and Personal Trainer Quals into the Aussie equivalant. Or is there anyone working over there with their own quals? The reason I ask is we have been quoted approx 10,000 dollars to either re train aussie standard which would be completley pointless as my OH would just be going over the basic which he knows inside out or at least 5,000 to get own quals put up for recognition. Any info would be so much appreciated. My OH is thinking of going into construction for the 1st while as this is what he did before his career change a few years back. We heading to Perth. Thanks in advance. Helen x :wubclub:

Hi there Ladies and Gents! I'm thinking of coming over to Sydney/suburbs in July of this year. I am a personal trainer and would be thankful for any advice as to which areas I should consider or avoid in or around Sydney. Having a beach relatively near by would be a great advantage to be able to use the outdoors to train clients. Or if you know of a particular area with a high concentration of gyms, that would be great. I really don't know where to start and any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also thinking of house/flat sharing as I cannot afford to rent outright or buy. Has anyone got any experience house sharing in OZ? Many thanks in advance! Charlie.

Im thinking of buying a few sessions for my hubs as a birthday gift (he has mentioned it before im not just calling him unfit for the fun of it lol). but i know nothing about what happens etc. So how much do you think it would cost? Also if anyone is in Perth and works as one, pls tell me what you do? or if anyone can recommend one?? Many thanks Emma x
