    The new training visa 407

The 407 is a great way to experience Australia whilst gaining new or enhancing current occupational skills. The visa is for both paid and voluntary internships for up to 24 months (the government decide on the length based on the occupation, the applicants work or study history, skills and qualifications, age etc). The sponsor of the applicant is not the employer and is required put the applicant through a skills training program in conjunction with a host employer. The training visa 407 can relate to any occupation on the CSOL list available here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/CSOL You can read all about this newly introduced visa here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/407- I welcome any questions, Ray Daniel Access Training & Logistics (Training Visa 407 Sponsorship Approved) Geelong, Victoria, Australia

  4. Hi guys, Im new to the site and would like to say hello to everyone. :-) Hope you can help me out with a few questions I have?.. I'm currently an Electrician in UK but really want to go to Brisbane for a couple of years in hope of a permanent move in the near future. I know very little about the options I have other than I can get a skilled visa! Just wondering how this is obtained, and if I have to do any sort of tests etc? Also is it just as easy as going to Brisbane and finding work as an electrician or have I got to have any special licences etc? I'm very keen to take my family to Oz for a better future but need some help from you guys. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you can shed some light on my situation. Thanks, Simon
  5. My OH needs a Tradesman certificate to work as a Panel Beater in NSW. Does anyone know how to get hold of one or is it quite simply the documentation from TRA? I cant find any info in the net it just refers me to TRA (whom I have emailed) has anyone else come across this? We have a QLD SS and the certificate is not required in QLD but we really want to go to NSW if we can. Thanx for any help!

    Tradesman needs help !!!

Just reading through australian webpages, Im not quite sure what my actual job term would be classed as in Australia, In England im a taper + jointer, now the names that keep coming up on various sites are solid plasterer, which is what most brits associate as a wet plasterer (the pinky orange stuff on your walls at home) and the other name is a fibrous plasterer, and this in detail seems to entail several different jobs here in britain but i only specialise in one, now the problem i am having is if i get over there and the job is of a different nature to that what i am used to doing in the uk it could leave in a lttle bit of trouble (i.e no work). so if there is any body out there who works on an australian site or has knowledge of the trade can you fill me in with the role a taper + jointer has in Australia. thanks for any help Scott.
  8. Hi everyone. Still finding the site helpful but i'm a little confused over this TRA thingy!! Is it compulsory that all tradesmen wanting to migrate to Oz have to go through this process? My husband has qualifications in basic bricklaying and since then 21 years experience, most of which is self-employed and he is more qualified now than when he got his basic bricklayer qualification, he has run his own gang for years now. However, he is willing to start at whatever level necessary when and if we ever get over there. We are wanting to go in 12-20 months so i'd like to start the ball rolling, i'm beginning to think an agent would be a good idea but i have plenty of time on my hands so would like to attempt it myself. Also, how long do visas last? (is that a silly question!?) i.e...... if we were to get a visa but still had property to sell, how long can we wait before we go. This is not as simple as i hoped!!!! tradesman beware ?

hi all , sorry about the headline . I just want to give a little bit of advise as regards the construction industry in W.AUSTRALIA . My brother has just come back from WA after traveling some 6000k over the last six weeks throughout the state .Me being a brickie waiting for my visa , find out what's going on ? basically from talking to lots of trades the general feeling is that things were getting very tight , the price's were coming down quite a bit , which mean's things are slowing down .Like i say I'm a brickie that's been sat on my arse for the last month ,checking status page everyday ,no work in sight at the moment, but i am at home in familiar surroundings . Please think carefully about selling up and going to the promised land , things are'nt that rosy for the locals let alone us wannabe's ? I am trying to be totally upbeat ( ive been selling this idea to family & friends for the last 4 years ) but there is lots of underlying issue's that are out of my hands . Like i say dont want to be an alarmist, but a little bit worried !
