Hi there, my husband and I have just logged our visa appliacation for WA and want to go to Perth. My husband is a toolmaker/manager and I am a dental nurse also known as an assistant. We were woundering if there is anyone who has emigrated with these trades and if so would love to hear your story the good and the bad. Are there as many jobs to choose from as everyone tells us and what is the pay like in comparison to the cost of living? We look forward to hearing from you

Hi all, First of all, thanks for the useful posts from you. Just going through all your posts and they are really very useful for us. Actually my trade is toolmaker - 323412. I have applied for my trade assessment to TRA in Feb 2012 and got an unsuccessful outcome on 31 may 2012. After ringing to the TRA, he told me that he could not find any relation of one of my past employers with the nominated business. Now he is asking me to give a statutory declaration or proof of evidence that his business exists (like business license certificate) kind of stuff. I claimed that I have worked in that organisation from 2007 to 2010. It is a very small industry. To my surprise, the proprietor of that company, today, told me that he had registered his business only in 2010. Though, he is still in the business now. He doesn't have any proofs like telephone bills or electricity bills in the name of the company during my period of employment. Now I am stuck and need an advice to overcome this situation. Could you please help on what to be done next. I have to apply for the review of the assessment before Jul 31.

Hi, Just joined this forum after looking through the posts for the past few days. I'm currently in the process of appealing my TRA refusal. They are asking for "independent evidence from my employer detailing the period of apprenticeship to align the apprenticeship training to the sought occupation of toolmaker". I have now got the information they have requested but am now concerned that my apprenticeship was a 3 year one and not 4 years. Does this mean i cannot attain pathway A or B? Not really sure what a "5 year informal apprenticeship" actually is?

Ill be moving to south Perth in a few weeks time and im just trying to gauge how difficult it is going to be to find a job. I have looked at a few of the websites like seek but would be nice to hear any stories word of mouth. Any help is appreciated. Cheers

Hi, I am an apprentice trained toolmaker....13 years experience, with an HNC (1986) in mechanical and production engineering . I also have 10 years experience on CNC Milling and Turning machines (Mazak & Gildermeister) amongst other things. I have worked for the same company for the last 18 years which is currently part of The Scheafeller Group. Can anyone advise me if my trade is in demand and where in Oz do I need to be looking? I am aware from reading other posts that I will probably need to have my skills assessed first. My wife is a carer and would also be looking for part time work. Any advice would be greatly appreciared. Thanx Phil Philip(43) Lynne(38) Thomas(20) Benjamin(11)
