  1. Hi all, simon and michelle here,we have been in queensland 4 years now and would love to expand our social circle we are in our early thirties and like pretty much anybody lol so please dont hesitate to invite us to any upcoming events:smile:
  2. A lot of us not yet down under are looking forward to forging new aquantainces & friendships & having get togethers & sharing bbq's I thought it would be nice for us to hear about your social lives. Do you have all day bbq's, or a couple of hours in the evening. Does everyone take food & drink with them, do you just sit & chat or do you have more of a party amosphere. Can it be a bit of a free for all (often the best laughs) or a bit more sophisticated. A "day in the lives of... " would be good too. If we have a bbq at home here (and i mean my home or family) its normally just an evening affair, occ starting in the afternoon but a lot depends on the weather & grabbing a couple of hours when we can & often have to take the food back inside to eat :arghh: there isnt usually a lot of alcohol involved either so nothing that wonderful. I just get the impression the way of things is more relaxed out there & more focus on enjoying time off work/weekends etc.
  3. Would love to get to know any other poms living in the area.
  4. Hi I'm coming to Brisbane this weekend to visit my friend who has recently moved to Brisbane from Scotland. We're both girls in our early 30's and wondered if there were any meet ups or advice on where is good to go in Brisbane. Cheers in advance for any tip, Maureen
  5. Hi, We are moving out to Perth in Feb 2011 and would be great to know if there are any groups of fellow Poms that meet up up for Barbie or beers? I am moving out with my husband Paul and although we know a few friends already that live in Perth it would be great to make some new friends as well. Paul is Derby County Fan so is especially interested if there is a group of fellow Ram supporters out there? Cheers Angie & Paul
  6. We are a family of 6 and are looking to expand our social network of friends. We have been here nearly 2 years and have settled really well. I know its tough for some when they first arrive, I went through every emotion possible but sometimes all you need is a friendly face Totally in love with the life style and the country and are looking for friends to generally socialise with.... bbq's at home & parks, beach, days out etc etc. We're a friendly family.... OH & I are both 39 (my big 40 coming up in a few weeks.... arrggghhh). We have 4 kids.... two daughters aged 17 & 3 and two boys 10 & 8. My boys love their Rugby and most of our weekends this last year has been taken up with their training & matches (and yes im one of those "sideline mothers"). But at last the footy season has ended for a while so we need to seriously get our social life together again. Im always up for a coffee during the day with "the girls" (although I have a tag along daughter but she doesnt bite .... much . We are currently living in Heritage Park but dont mind travelling. Would be fantastic to get together..... Summers on its way..... Woo Hooooo !!!!!! Anyhoo.... if ya fancy a chat or to organise something PM me and i'll get back to you. Im also a bit of a facebook addict (great for keeping up with the family back home) so you can add me too if you have it. Bye for now. Jen & Family. xxxxx

  15. Hi all I am looking to move to Oz (Sydney) and wondered if there are any groups that chat via forums or meet up that have teenagers? I have a 14 year old daughter and having moved from the South West to London previously (which she hated), I am trying to ensure we do all that we can to help her settle in when we get to Sydney. I am looking to befriend families with similar age children so that at least she can start making friends as soon as we get out there and won't feel as alone as she did in London. Does anyone have similar aged children that can recommend what entertainment is available for 14-16 year olds (clubs, under18's discos e.t.c). I really want her to like living in Sydney and to experience the Oz way of life - I must admit, I know I could certainly do with some friends when I get there too!
  16. Hi Everyone! I'm new to this so here goes! i'm Lynn (37) Marty is 34 and my daughter is 6. Although we have been over here since Dec 04 we would love to meet new people. We are in Merriwa if you're interested in a meet sometime. Thanks
  17. Hi everyone! I can't believe we're actually flying out to Sydney on 4th Jan! It's all quite surreal!:err: Once we arrive we'll have to run around sorting stuff out & renting a longer term property before OH starts work on 14th Jan. We'll probably want some more clothes too as we've only got 20kg allowance each! Then the mission to find a school for the kids....but i guess we can't do much about that 'till they're back in February! Oh! We'd better buy some beds too! Once we're done with the first manic episode as immigrants (! tee hee!) it would be great to meet up with some friendly faces around the north sydney area for a few ice cold beers!:goofy: When will this all sink in?!............. X Katherine
