    Software testing and SOL

Need help and guidance from the forum members regarding my Permanent Residency plan to Aussie land. I am ( 32+ years old) an Electronics Engg Graduate from India with a 7+ years of Software testing (manual) experience which includes nearly 3+years work experience in Australia on a 457 visa. With my employer not willing to sponsor me ENS way of residency is there any way I can get my residency on my own . As you all know Software Testing is not in the new SOL list its getting harder for me to get it on my own or I am just :daydreaming: . Can a manual tester be accessed as a Software Engineer or similar. As SE is in current SOL list or do we know by any chance Software Testing is going to be included in the SOL list in near future or I am still :daydreaming: Is there anyway I can lodge the application on my own and get the residency. Much appreciated for your time :cute:.

    Ielts testing problems

Hi guys, I am a British journalist working in Australia and am keen to do a story on how many British born and bred people struggle with the IELTS test; the one that gives you extra points to get your visa. I didn't have to sit it for my permanent residency, but took a look and it didn't seem straight forward or logical at all. I know of plenty of professionals; accountants and even teachers, who have not passed first time. Have any of you failed or had to sit it more than once? I am convinced it's a poor judge of someone's English ability, especially if Brits have problems with it! I'd also be keen to interview someone who is well educated who failed who lives in the UK and someone based in Australia. I'd really appreciate your feedback! Many thanks, Jenny

    just testing

sorry guys, just testing computer, got a few problems
  6. Hi, I am having a profile of an IT professional with almost 6 years of work experience.Out of that 6 years 2 years and 10 months of experience was in testing and rest of experience is in design, development and analysis. I applied for ACS and got the +ve assessment in 2010 March as a computing tester. But I was n't able to apply for PR.Now when I tried to go for PR, I came to know that I again have tpo get the ACS assessment. But my consultant said that the testers are not getting PR for Australia now as they are denying testers in ACS skill assessment.Although out of 6 years only 2years 1o onths is in testing. Someone could please let me know if this is an issue or could I reapply with my current profile for ACS asessment. Thanks

Is software testing on the MODL?

I have a query regarding eligibility to apply for a skilled visa. On the critical skills list, it states: Computing Professionals -- where the applicant's specialisation is listed on the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL). So when I look on the MODL, it states: Computer Professional of the IT occupations - only if you have and can evidence substantial skills and experience in one or more of the following: ....and lists various skills. I initially assumed that this list was only to describe people with skills in software development. However, when I click on the ASCO Code link for this profession, it states: 2231-79 Computing Professionals nec This occupation group covers Computing Professionals not elsewhere classified. Skill Level: The entry requirement for this occupation is a bachelor degree or higher qualification or at least 5 years relevant experience. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification. Occupations in this group include: Computer Analyst Computer Scientist Computing Tester Database Analyst Local Area Network (LAN) Controller I am a computing tester as described here with significant experience in testing applications written in the stated languages, and my partner is a LAN controller. Can anyone please explain whether this means we are eligible to apply?

    Testing the water.....

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any way we could go to OZ just for a year to see if it suits us, I know you can get a working holiday visa but we have a young son (1 yr) and didn't know if you can do this if you have a family. It's just such a huge move that I would rather test the water first coz we just can't decide what to do!!! :goofy: Hope you can help, thanks Ali, xxx

  14. Can anyone help? Just had my skills assessment back, yippee. So thought I would get my visa application filled out on the net. Points testing now 10 points short, when previously had 120 points. I think theyve increased the work experience to 3 and above. Originally it was 3 options, im sure and one was 12months experience. Anyway Im short? What do I do? Is it worth taking the Advance IELTS to give me 25 points instead of 15 which is what Ive scored for being British already. Any suggestions!!! Doesnt look like there are any other visas I can go for unless I get sponsorship.:realmad:

  17. I've just been on the TRA website and read about the trade test in which you will be able to do in this country before emigration. It will be in operation on 1st July and is designed to enable people from certain countries and from a few trades to obtain work straight away on entry in Oz, without then having to see about getting the relevant registration. It says that more details will be given early May. But I'm just wondering will this test be offered to people already passed the TRA, or to people applying to TRA after 1st July. We're not using an agent but I wonder if any agents know this info and have passed on info to their clients on here. We're just wondering because we now don't know if we should hold back the TRA application for a couple of months (not that its any where near ready) xx
