Sorry in advance but this is going to be a rant !!! Individual states had sponsored applicants as the job they indicated on their sponsorship application is in demand. We now find ourselves in a position where Cat 2 or occupations on a seemingly never to be released SMP is a redundant category. Now correct me if im wrong but isnt the SMP going to be a list of in demand jobs derived by the states and then signed off by some pleb (sinister evans !!!) . So clearly some common ground here between proposed SMP and old SS. The common ground being the word Demand. The unfairness is that people with sponsorship from a state have been leapfrogged by people who for some reason didnt apply for SS or mnight possibly have been declined. The fairest thing would be that whilst the SMP is still on the back burner that CAT 2 should temporarily be replaced by those people with a State Sponsorship received prior to the 1-7-10. This way the states get the applicants that they sponsored and it would eridicate the feeling of unfairness of the applicants with SS that now find themselves in CAT 4. Im sure there are people in Cat 3 without SS that will think well thats just tough get over it . I just pray that if they are thinking that then I hope that any further changes effect those with that attitude. I have always been an advocate of fairness based on rules in principle at the time of lodging. So come on states get your act together and raise the question with DIAC that SS should be cat 2 whilst SMP are held back Thanks Shane:arghh:

Hi All I am inundated with PMs and e-mails and I simply don't have enough time to deal with them all. I have switched both options off for a week or so to give me time to deal with the backlog. Once the backlog is cleared I will switch them back on. Thank you for your patience and understanding. :notworthy: Cheers Gill

The Tasmanian government has temporarily closed SS/SRS sponsorship operations from 17 March to 19 April 2009 due to a policy review. New applications will not be processed during this period. The unit will resume the programs with an updated policy on 20 April 2009. Existing applications as of 17 March 2009 will be assessed against the updated policy guidelines after 20 April 2009. Only applications with a job offer or strong existing link to Tasmania (i.e. relative/family living in the state and/or studied in Tasmania for more than two years) may be approved before 20 April 2009. Kind regards Cheryl
