Natalie Richardson posted a topic in QueenslandHi, I'm coming over to QLD on a WHV later this year (Sept) and need advice as to where the best places are to secure Teaching jobs. Although I am Secondary Trained, I have been teaching Primary (specifically Early Years ages 5 and under) since qualifying in 2010. I would like to continue working with this age group and hopefully impress an employer so that they may sponsor me, as would like to stay on a more permanent basis. Any advice would be much appreciated as would new contacts as I'm a single lady with no contacts in Oz currently - brave or mad? Not sure which lol x
Anyone out there? New the site - came across it in our search for info on emigrating. Anyway we're really excited about the prospect of moving to Australia but have loads of questions at this early stage. Please - can anyone help us. My husband and I are both primary school teachers (me 12 years, him 3 years). We would be looking for him to work full time initially with me possibly getting part time work once we are settled. Our questions are: What sort of salary could my husband expect? How much tax etc do you pay ie How much can we expect to live off? What are the hours like - is teaching more relaxed? Husband currently leaves home at 7.30 am returns around 6 pm and then does an hour or two marking/assessment/prep etc. Works all day Saturday preparing for the next week and often much of the holiday. Please tell me it's better in Oz. How difficult is it to secure a job? - we aren't set on any particular area yet but would like to live somewhere coastal and within a couple of hours drive of one of the main metro areas. Hope there's someone who can help - Any info on teaching in Australia gladly appreciated. Also have 2 sons (7 and 2) who will be needing good schools!
Hi folks, quick question, I've got the 60 points for my profession (IT Manager) but in total only manage 115 points cos I'm 37 now, nice touch that they took away the 5 points for the $100,000 (cos I was gunna use the mortgage for that one) So need to get the wife's 5 points for spouse on MODL list....now she has completed here teaching course and is now an NQT - The Teaching australia site appears to require only the certificate rather than the completion of the years NQT is this correct or am I overly hopeful - she is working part time to the NQT year will actually take 2 years and then we're 40 - and lose ANOTHER 5 points...
