shellsparkles posted a topic in Renting & Real EstateHello there all you soon to be residents of Australia One of my neighbours'-daughters is renting out her family home in Miranda, which is in the Sutherlandshire, NSW. She had offered it to myself and my other half however, we are looking for a more permanent base here in Engadine Up for grabs for 9 months only so it may suit some of you "freshies" Its got three bedrooms, so would suit a family. My neighbour said her daughter would take a couple of families if they wanted to share the property. The rent is $650-670 furnished although it depends what furniture she has to provide. The bond would be 4 x what ever the final rent is agreed at. She is willing to considering letting it unfurnished too. Miranda has a big west field and the very popular "paddy's irish bakery" which services all us "paddys in oz" with the usual baked yummies from home. Its also a short hop on the train to the Cronnulla beaches!! If your interested Pm me and I can give you her number! I hope this is of some help to someone - I know how stressed out I was coming here knowing I only had a couple of weeks to secure a "home" Michelle
Hi guys- hoping people in Oz have woken up by now! Just looking for people's opinions on schools in the shire-- any personal experiences? I need ( as we all do) a good primary for my kids-- somewhere they will feel at home(they are coming from the Uk) , where they will feel welcomed and happy, and a good place for academic excellence. An after school club will be great if present. Not too bothered about sports as my son couldn't care less. Public or Catholic schools are both ok-- just that it should be a good school. I would be grateful for people's opinion, and please pass on any hearsay as well:biggrin:!
Guest posted a topic in New South WalesHi, Im after some advice from anyone who has been there or is going through it! Well here's the situation, hubby is 44 and has been offered a job working in Sydney ($80,000), im a nurse in the UK working part time with a little one year old daughter. My husbands company is willing to sponser us on a 457 visa whilst we apply for our independant PR and basically wants him out there asap. We both have great jobs in the UK, and we have both lived and worked in Melbourne previously, so we know what this moves involves. On paper when you do the sums moving over to Sydney (we are looking at the Sutherlandshire) we can afford it as long as I get work. We are just not sure, its such a gamble and we are unsure whether giving the UK up is a clever move, as if you look at it financially it doesnt make sense, but we both have this pull to Oz, and im convinced that it will be a better life for us all. Everyday we change our mind, its such a yoyo of emotions. Im just hoping that maybe someone out there can give us some advice? Is oz what we expect for our little family? and will our salaries stack up living in Sydney $80,000 and approx $40,000 yearly. Really importantly its now or never as next year hubby is too old for the visa. I would love to hear from someone! Carrie
