  1. Hi, Is there still no requirement to change from a UK driving licence to an Aussie licence while on a 457 temporary residence visa. I've been here a couple of years on a 457 visa and over that time applied for an Aussie licence. Unfortunately I have racked up a number of demerit points which means I'm likely to have it suspended which is very problematic, particularly with work. I know there was no requirement to convert while on a 457 visa a couple of years but wondered whether that was still the case, and whether I could still drive on a UK licence during the 3 month suspension of the Aussie licence. Has anyone had any experience of this? I also intend to apply for PR, if I get PR is there still a 4 month grace period to change over? Thanks David
  2. Prior to yesterday's suspension, quite a few of us managed to lodge applications and are now sitting with fingers crossed, touching wood etc etc hoping our applications are accepted. There's also been speculation about how quickly [or not] these applications may be processed. Please could you add your details below and update on your progress? I'll start... Names: David & Nicky [he's the applicant] Visa Type: 176 QLD sponsored CSL: yes Job: .NET Developer Progress: got the TRN number and they've taken our money...
  3. Hi, as ive stated in a previous post, i have in the past been suspended from work due to ill health for 7 months. I received all appropriate treatment for my illness and deemed medically fit. My suspension was lifted without any restrictions in november2010. I was only ever suspended as i was unfit to work never for doing anything wrong. having read the application im confused as to wether i answer yes or no to question 22, which states: Have you previously had your registration cancelled, refused or suspended in Australia or overseas? although ive been suspended from work i have never had my registration suspended and the NMC has never been informed of my suspension therefore am I right in saying I should say 'no' to the above question? thanks
  4. Just checked DIAC website and it says: Temporary suspension of certain General Skilled Migration (GSM) applications – 7 May The Australian Government has decided to temporarily suspend the acceptance of certain General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa applications. The temporary suspension applies only to primary (main) applicants for the following visa subclasses: Subclass 175 – Skilled Independent (Migrant) visa Subclass 176 – Skilled Sponsored (Migrant) visa Subclass 475 – Skilled Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa. Cannot open the attached PDF though Edit: Can open the attached PDFs now.

  7. I have had a successful TRA assessment and we have recieved state sponsorship approval from WA (small business development corporation), but didnt apply for our visas, via the DIAC website in time, before the temporary suspension kicked in..!! Could anyone advise, if my skill was NOT to be included on the revised 2010 SOL list, would that mean starting the sponsorship process from scratch...??? OR as we have been granted state sponsorship already, would it be a matter of just continuing the application for visas once the DIAC website is re-opened..??? ANY advice.....VERY welcome...!!
