  2. Translink says bus services have been suspended in the Caboolture, Redcliffe and Burpengary areas because of flooding in south-east Queensland. Train services through to the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane, are still running. There are also delays to public transport services in the Ipswich area, west of Brisbane, because of rising floodwaters.

    457 visas suspended?

My employer is going to be lodging my 457 visa application tomorrow but i've just noticed that the processing of applications are going to be suspended until July, I'm going to be working in recruitment and have no idea where I stand, Do I lodge the application anyway? The immigration agent i've been working with hasn't mentioned this and i'm really worried about what to do as i've left my job and also my house as my visa was supposed to be granted by the end of tis month and my start date was the 27th. Any suggestions on what the best course of action is would be greatly appreciated.
  4. My sister received her successful TRA result (hairdresser) on Thursday and managed to get her 175 application in before yesterdays deadline. She has tried to apply for WA state sponsorship today and the online application process is now showing as suspended. She put in her 175 application with only 110 points expecting to change it to a 176 state sponsored only requiring 100 points as soon as she was approved from WA. Is she able to take the IELTS to make up another 10 points after her application is in? Are we able to sponsor her and change her application to 176 family sponsored visa once we arrive in Australia (we already have our 176 visa in place and expect to move to Oz this year) - I understand the pass mark for this is 100 points? We were so happy that she got her application in before the deadline - she just needs to know what her options are from here. Thanks, Donna x
  5. Applicants under the General Skilled Migration Program should be aware that DIAC has made an announcement today suspending all Offshore GSM application. Please direct any enquiries on this matter to DIAC via your nearest Australian High Commission and not to Immigration SA. As a result, Immigration SA will also be suspending processing all Offshore Sponsorship applications, until further notice. However, Onshore sponsorship applications will proceed at this stage. asylum bids suspended

  7. Hi all, I've looked at previous posts on this subject, but cannot seem to get any real idea of timescales. I lodged a 175 application on the 5th of November 2009, with the intention of moving in late December 2010. I'm not sure what the latest timelines are, but I guess that I could reasonably expect to be allocated a Case Officer before next April/May?? Anyway, my wife is now pregnant and baby is due in July. There is no way we would have the X-Ray done, so plan on deferring the medicals until after the birth, once we get a CO!) My question is - Say we end up doing the medicals in August/September next year, is the grant of a 175 visa by next November/December still a reasonably realistic target? Has anyone done this before and able to advise on timescales/how long it takes to get the medicals done and subsequent grant of visa after a defferal? Advice would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks. Kind regards Tom

  10. I am moving over to the Sunshine coast just above Brisbane in September (as long as the visa arrives soon). I did go over for a visit back in January and made a few phone calls to check out the work situation, but I was wondering if anyone out there knows what its like finding work over there in this aspect of the building trade? We nearly decided to go and live in Perth, but theres way too many Brits, like Blackpool in the sun. Queensland is fantastic!
