I am new to this site but really need some advice. My OH is a Diesel Fitter and we have PR visas. We did a recci 3 years ago to Sunshine Coast and to Perth. The thing is I didn't really warm to Perth, (we stayed in Hillarys) but all the employment opportunities seem to be in WA. It was nice, don't get me wrong, it was June...nice weather, nice facilities but there just seemed to be a bit of anti social behaviour, joy riding, vandelism etc. It was just off putting and yes I do know this is everywhere but I read here that so many people love Perth so maybe I just got the wrong impression. I am more than willing to give Perth another go as employment opportunities are of the upmost importance but I have no idea where to start looking for a nice location to settle. We are from Ireland, small village, small school, 2 kids aged 10 and 12 and I would like a really nice school (bullying is a worry) and good activities for them locally. I am so confused at the moment, we are moving in January but have not confirmed the flights yet as I am completely torn. All advice is welcome.
We are hoping to move to Perth at the beginning of June. We have 2 children; one is year nine and the other year 6. I could do with any advise anyone has on senior schools for my eldest daughter, and feeder schools for the younger one. I have read a bit about Woodvale, Ocean Reef, Kinross and Belridge Senior High Schools but you don't get a feel for them without visiting properly! The eldest is very keen on art and textiles, and the younger one in swimming. Also what are the areas like to live in, and which suberbs would be recommended to rent in to get them into the right schools? I am happy to put them in private education but the 2 that we visited were very over subscribed. Many thanks Jo
Hi I'm living in strathpine at the mo and growing insanely bored and now feeling a bit depressed. My daughter (5) cannot start schl til end of Jan and unfortunately cannot afford to put her in day care as we are on 457 visa (no help), so cannot work til end of Jan. Who'd av thought I would miss working!! Not mentioning any names but I dont need people on here telling me to go out and discover australia and thats there's plenty to do, as I have been out over and over again to the free places, I have made the effort and money doesnt grow on trees!! So now I'm appealing to all mums not working at the mo, if any1 is feeling a bit lonely and could do with a bit of company and have a good pommy winge, then I'm ur girl! I'm a bit of a mad 1, used to luv pubs, clubs and rugby and taking the girls to concerts! My life is now cleaning, Park, swimming, cleaning, park , swimming, slip a bit of shopping in the middle and more cleaning, park, swimming!! No Squares please!! jules x:wacko:
