what was the last bargain you stumbled upon? Driving through port campbell on the great ocean road yesterday it was blowing a gale and we were abit put off putting the tent up so were looking for somewhere cheap to stay, came round a corner and theres a sign outside a house right next to the beach saying $80 a night, stop to look at the sign and the fella that owns the house comes out and rents us his house for the night...... nice place, big, gorgeous ocean view and $20 a night cheaper than a pokey motel room!!!! :jiggy: whats your bargain story?
Hi there I was previously on the PomsinAdelaide site but it seems that we cant go to Adelaide now. For various reasons our visa application was delayed so although the TRA assessment went ahead before the September changes, the new points alterations have now meant that our 175 visa has been denied but we can go for a 176... Anyway, this means we will have to choose a state to sponsor my partner who is a joiner and we lived in Melbourne before so.... We wanna come back. The only reason we decided to try out Adelaide was to have a house near the beach with a more laid back lifestyle - which we cant afford in Melbourne - but we LOVE Melbourne and I guess have been there before so know it a little bit. Anyway, has anyone else had to change from a 175 to a 176 and what was the rate of success??? It will cost us another small sum (which we cant really afford now the medicals have eaten up the last of our budget) but I just hope it works out... Thanks for any advice on this one... I think I am just in shock since we have had so many little hurdles to overcome only for this to happen at the last minute.
We intend to apply for a 175 skilled or 176 skilled sponsored with OH as main applicant. He is a welder/ fabricator. We download the TRA forms and think we might have a bit of a problem; The company he did apprenticship with went into liquidation a few months short of him completing the course. He therefore doesn't think he ended up doing his final practical exam (C&G part II) - he did is part I and we have his certificates. So we contacted the college where he attended to check student records (to prove if nothing else he did over 900 classroom hours) they don't have records going back that far....also they closed down the course part way through and transferred it to another college - they too don't have records going back that far. We think we have tracked down an address for his foreman at the place he served apprenticship - but frankly will this be of any use? It seems from what we're told that if Pathway D hadn't been abolished none of the above would be a major issue...... Apart from waiting and seeing if they bring it or something similar back...got any suggestions?:arghh:
Well we have hit our first major stumbling block today. We had our house valued and its not enough. We knew the market is not good at the moment but its still between £15K and £25K less than we were expecting!!! We can't believe its that low. We bought the house 3 yrs ago brand new (4 bed det) for £215K and last year put on a huge conservatory which cost £12K. We are in a lovely cul-de-sac with a decent garden which has woods at that back i.e. not overlooked. Oh well the dream was nice while it lasted.
