  1. Dear all, I have the following overlapping of my postgraduate studies (A) and my work experience (B): (A) 01/Jul/2003 - 09/Oct/2006 : Full-time postgraduate studies with obtaining a Ph.D. degree (ACS has recognized it as AQF Doctorate in Computing). During the course I attended some lectures, prepared five scientific articles, did some teaching and worked on my Ph.D. thesis. It all was possible because I had flexible hours schema during my described in (B) employment. (B) 01/Feb/2005 - 22/Feb/2007: Position of Software Engineer (worked in St. Petersburg, Russia for Sun Microsystems, full-time - confirmed by ACS): I really worked 40 hours per week – my manager confirms it in appropriate reference letter. In respect with the above, I have a concern that DIAC, although I was working at Sun Microsystems after receiving my Bachelor degree (recognized by ACS) will NOT count either my Doctorate or my experience at Sun because: a) Some people on forums wrote that any work experience can be taken into account by DIAC only after receiving the applicant's _highest_ degree, i.e. Doctorate I my case; b) The two full-time activities, I mean (A) and (B), took place in parallel for some time, and it causes me to worry. So, today, I have 70 points with my experience at Sun and 65 ones without it. What would you suggest? - Declare for DIAC my experience at Sun as relevant or not relevant?
  2. hey guys I am looking to pursue a postgraduate course in Networking and Security in Australia. Its a 1.5 year program and hence I won't meet the Australian study requirement and won't be eligible for the post-study work visa. Can anyone suggest me some options to stay in Australia after my studies.? And, do international students usually manage to find a job there before their student visa expires.? Thanks Arju

    Telecommunication diploma TAFE

Hi everyone, I am an international student planning to come to Australia (thinking of coming to NSW) to study Telecommunication at TAFE. Therefor if someone who has studied in this field at TAFE could you tell me more about the study programme and if it's very similar to Information Technology studies..? Is the studies very theoretical, a lot of maths etc..? Do you think this study is worth it and is there a possibility to gain a work visa after completion of this study..? Thanks for your help  Robindronat

  6. Is there anyone who has applied for PR before completing your 2 years of studies in Australia? My husband will complete 2 years of Master degree end of June next year and we want to apply for PR as soon as he finish his study. As you know that immigration law is gonna be changed from next july of next year. With old law we have enough point to apply for PR, so we want to do it, but the problem is that he can't get his graduation cetficiate by the end of June cause he will finish his study the end of June and it takes 1 week to get the certificate, which means it may not possible to apply for PR with old law just due to one week of gap. If anyone who applied for PR before completing study, would you give us some advice? If it's possible, what other valid documents we can sumit?? Please help... if we don't apply for PR with old law, it's gonna be big hassle...Thanks!!!

    Legal Studies!

Hiya All. I'm hoping with all digits crossed that someone will be able to help me with my dilemma. I started an Open University degree in Law 2 years ago. So have 120 OU points so far. I am also going to do a course next year, which will entitle me to 180 OU points in total and give me a diploma in English Law and will be entitled to use the letters Dip Eng Law (Open). My main aim was to continue with the studies in England and complete the BA hons LLB degree. But as i am emigrating to Oz at the end of next year or early 2011, i wont be able to do this. Am i able to transfer this existing diploma, to any legal course or job in australia? I would very much like to gain my degree in Law, but don't really want to start again and waste all this money that i have paid doing the English Law courses. Yours in anticipation, Meddy
