    Steelwork detailer

    Hi all, my wife & I and two children are giving serious though to moving to Aus as the UK's only going 1 way we have a good lifestyle over here & the recession hasnt effected us much I am a steelwork detailer & have been runing my own company for 14 years using Strucad / Advance steel & Autocad since i was 16 (now40) are there plenty job opertunities for steel detailers over there, I assume the construction indusrty / steel detailing will be similar to ours apart from it wont be raining all the time ! which region woudl be best to look into for my sort of job thanks for reading

    Steel Fixers Wanted (Rebar)

    Any expat steel-fixers out there arriving in Perth (SOR) and looking for work? Job is based South of the River and working in factory conditions (so nice and cool!) for WA's largest Rebar company. UK/Ireland/European project experience would be great, read drawings, manage a team with good work ethic. (pile cages,beams, columns, walls, slabs etc) Company is currently working on the $63b Gorgon project with new prefab work starting shortly. I am currently a director of a small detailing office in the UK. My dream is to come to Australia and enjoy a new experience.   6. Hi I remember on an episode of Wanted Down Under, in Brisbane I think, they showed a showroom or shop that they called a house supermarket. Apparently you could go in and choose a house design!! Can anyone throw any light on this? I also wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with the process of choosing and buying a steel kit home!! Any idea of the costs involved? :wubclub: Thanks Sheena
  7. hi all,my names chris im 26 and living in the uk and seriously considering moving to australia,i my fiance is 21 and we have 3 children ages 3,2,2 months, i am a steel erector and cladder by trade with 8 yrs experience and many qualifications, my fiance has completed a level 1 and 2 nvq in hairdressing, ok my question is do we have any chance at all of getting in to oz at all? and does anybody know if theres alot of work over there in my trade? sorry if its all a bit vague but any help would be very much appreciated. please be gentle thanks chris and gem

  9. We have recently replaced our decking ballustrade with stainless steel cables & fittings and due to changing our plans & a couple of miscalculations, we have quite a bit over. Probably enough to do a reasonable sized deck.     Build with Steel or Timber?

    Hello Can anyone help us in making a dicision to build using steel or timber, I know the timber is prone to Termite problems but steel is a pain for home improvements and hanging pictures tv's and stuff any comments??? Thank you Scottie

    Steel Erector jobs

    We are hoping to be in Perth by the end of the yr on my wifes visa who as been accepted. with her being a nurse, we have the medicals to complete,Then sell the house etc.. Unfortunatly I was to old to apply 47 this yr for a visa. I have been in Construction for 23yrs now as a Steel Erector I have worked mostly on Pero Chemical sites, I have held variouse positions withinin this job Supervisor,Superintendent & Steel work Co-ordinator. been involed in estimating ect. I have just become unemployed after 12yrs with the same comapany, making my wifes case stronger on why we should leave the uk, I am still unsure, shes determent that we try it also for the benifit of the 4 children I have. What I am asking is there work for Steel Erectors in Perth. And will I need a trade cardfrom Aus to prove that I am a competent steel erector. I will have a refrence and contact details from previose employee to back my CV up. Any advise woud be appreciated. Brian
  14. Hi all I'm a Steel erector, welder, fabricator, glass fitter blah blah you get the picture. I'm self employed and would like to do the same in Oz maybe East coast, can anyone tell me how the industry is over there, are people still investing is there plenty work in that field. We are going over to have a look this summer, can't wait. i know i'll have to start as employed ye ha stress free, I've got all my tickets over here but will they mean anything over there?
