    What's Peregian Springs like?

As the title says. House rent prices seem reasonable.Look forward to hearing the views. JOHN
  3. Hey fellow Queenslanders or should I say "Banana Benders"!!! We have got our 457 and are on our way on the 8th January and to be honest, we cannot wait. We have managed to secure a rental in Peregian Springs which seems to have a good reputation for a family. We are open to meeting people who live up that way - we are a family of 4 with children aged 19 (not really child) and 10, both boys. We hope you all have a great Christmas and see you all very soon Paul, Donna, Michael and Ollie...

    Hello from Alice Springs

Hello, We have been living in Alice Springs for 3 weeks now, against everybodys advice and quite a few on this site too (mostly from people who have never visited Australia, let alone Alice Springs) we are loving it. The people here are always friendly, have the time of day to talk to you, the weathers always good (who wants to live down south when the weathers like the UK?) Its been in the late 30's all week, but the humidity is so low it's no big deal. Within our first week of being here we were invited out to 2 BBQ's and a 70's disco night! The 'Alice' has everything any modern city has to offer and everything is within a 10 min drive. The Mac ranges have the most amazing water holes and gorges with BBQ and camping sites all the way along. There are plenty of Aboriginal folk around town. We were told they are drunk on every street corner and give you abuse (again i believe by people who had maybe been here for a day or two) we have had no bother what so ever and feel very safe walking around town with our 2 young boys, they just do their own thing and keep themselves to themselves. So bring on the NT and Alice Springs, if more people came here to find out for themselves rather than clambering for the 'glamour' spots then maybe the word would get around. Plus if your struggling to get into Oz then try a regional visa, it will speed up the process to 3 months from start to finish and you will experience an area of Australia that most people have't got the guts to try, including most Australians! Alice Springs

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has lived in or experienced Alice Springs? I have been offered a job there and accepted it. I am awaiting my 457 visa as you will see from my previous thread. I have done lots of research but any advice would be most helpful. Thanks

  8. Does anyone have any details/feedback on Frederick Irwin Anglican school in Meadow Springs, Mandurah. Thanks. Any info much appreciated.
  9. I've never been to Australia and I'm taking a year sabbatical to nurse there in about 6 months. My agency have offered Darwin, Alice Springs or Adelaide. I'm newly single in my early 40's so I want to go somewhere fun and a bit quirky. I've heard Adelaide is great but more family orientated. I'm thinking Darwin might be the best option and I don't mind the heat. Any advice would be great please.
  10. Hi Can anyone give us any advice on good primary schools and kindergartens in Mandurah or Meadow Springs. Which area is best to bring up two small children aged 3 and 6. Many thanks Sam

    What is Peregian Springs like?

Am looking for a nice affluent middle class area to settle, near the beach and affordable. A tall order I know! We have come across Peregian Springs and it looks right up our street. Are there lots of young families there (what we are looking for). Is it good for young kids (we have a 1 year old)? Can anyone shed any further light? Thanks so much.

  14. Hello, Was just wondering if any of you know how easy (or difficult) it is to travel to the CBD from Point Cook or Caroline Springs? We like these areas and before we make a decision where to rent we are looking at travel to work. As neither location has it's own train station (yet) is it a long and difficult journey? Any advice greatly appreciated. Sehar
  15. Hi, I'm hoping that there are some people out there that can help me. I live in Perth, but my eldest daughter lives back in the UK. She is just completing her last year at uni and has to produce a questionaire. She has to research the differences/attitudes of british migrants in "tropical" Cairns to the british in "outback" Northern Territory. This is where you "Northern Territory" people come in. She needs some people to answer the following questions: 1. What made you move from the UK? 2. What attracted you to the "outback" landscape of Darwin/Alice Springs? 3. Was it easy settling into your environment (ie. climate/economy/people)? 4. Do you come across many British people in Darwin/Alice Springs, are they a large majority of the community? If you could send me a private message with your answers that would be fantastic. Just a few lines for each answer is enough, you don't need to write a 2 page essay!! lol Thank you soooo much for all your help. Lynn x HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
  16. Hi all Just researching area's on the Sunshine coast and Peregian Springs sounds lovely, does anyone live there or near by and could tell me more. Any info or opinions would be appreciated Thanks Lisa

Hello!! My husband and I are currently living over in Perth but it seems we will soon be moving to a small community west of Alice Springs. The idea is that every couple of weeks we'll drive into Alice Springs for a weekend and maybe think about buying a property there. Can anyone give any advice or suggestions on Alice Springs, nice areas etc. Anyone out there who would accept us as part-time friends (please :notworthy:) Cheers all, hope to hear from you Sarah (27) Stu (37)
