Hi All, I have been referred by one of my mates, this seems to be a really nice forum to get answers. So why not give it a go!!! Well I am currently holding a 485Visa Temporary Residency with 7 months left in it ... I tried few things applied for jobs but apart from getting jobs in retail and other odd jobs nothing work out. I had the opportunity to apply for defacto visa but just for the sake of living in Australia I didnt like the Idea of it, as I preferred something legit. Anyways recently one of my mates approached me and after having consultation with him we decided to start our own business. Now my query is if we start a small business would he be able to sponsor me ??? Or he cant? I know best person to ask this question would be a lawyer, however according to a lawyer the guy can sponsor me if we register our business in some regional area like Geelong, Ballarat etc... Just need to have your advise if any of you have any experience about it or any suggestions would be highly appreciated... as I really dont want to go back to UNI, Looking to have some positive suggestions
manishab00 posted a topic in Visa ChatHi Folks, Urgently need your help in this matter! I am a 5.5yrs experienced IT Professional working for an Indian IT Major, who sponsored my UC 457 two years back. But now , due to lack of business, they are not able to send me to Australia. Is there any way I can find a sponsor in Australia (any location) and change my job sitting in India? Alternatively, if I leave my company here in India, can I travel to Australia in the 28 days timeframe without employment letter and try to find a job there? (not a good option I feel, but can it be an OPTION, what do you guys feel?) Need your valuable inputs, please help!!!
Hi there, I'm just after a bit of advice re the possibility of swapping visa types once one has been applied for. The situation we're in is that I'm an aussie citizen (by descent). We applied for a partner visa for my husband and 8 month old son at the end of June. Our case officer originally estimated 6 months for visa approval but yesterday has said it's more likely to be 8 - 9 months! (His reasoning is workload at the London embassy, nothing to do with our application). The problem we have is that we are both teachers. We were hoping to start applying now for jobs that would commence at the end of January 2013 which is the start of the academic year in Australia. I am aware that the job situation in teaching in Australia means that we would be very lucky to get jobs so quickly, but this thread is more of a "what if..." scenario. To be able to leave our current jobs at Christmas we would need to hand our notice in at the end of October. Has anyone ever applied for a partner visa and then swapped to a sponsor visa? This is assuming that IF my husband was offered a job to start in Jan 2013 and IF the school were able to sponsor him, would it be possible to arrange quickly enough? Aaaargh it's all so frustrating! Has anybody been in a similar situation? Our case officer is not the best at communicating with us, so I'm hoping someone can offer some advice  Thanks for reading :cute:
Guest posted a topic in Visa ChatHello All! - It's been a while since I last posted! My Australian partner and I have been in a de facto relationship now for over 3 years. Just over a year ago we left our flat in Australia (I was sponsored 457) and came to live in the UK (joint tenancy with another couple for 12 months). We now wish to apply for the 309 visa so that we can return to Aus with my Australian partner being my sponsor. We believe that we meet the standard eligibility criteria (finance, committed relationship etc) however we aren't sure about a few details: - Do we both need to be residing outside of Aus whilst my app is being considered? Will she be required to attend an interview with me at Australia House in London? - If we lodge our application this April and my partner returns to Aus in the interim (April onwards) will this affect our application? - This is likely to happen as my partner has potential work back in Melbourne but we are concerned that it may appear to contradict our claim to be in a de facto relationship if we will be apart for the duration of the app (we plan to meet in Asia, visits etc) Compared to many peoples troubles this may seem a little OTT and silly but we are really worried and cannot seem to get any advice from the official channels, would appreciate the help from you all!
