  1. Hopefully we will be gaining residency through my other half who may be getting sponsorship through her international company. I am a UK electrician and will be coming on the back of her application, As I wont be VETASSESing in the UK, whats the process of gaining an A licence in WA? Do I send my certs to TRA and they issue an Austrlian Recognised Trades Certificate, show this to the ministry of energy and attend a TAFE course then apply to the licencing dept, then get my licence? have looked into it before a while ago but just need refreshing on the system, many thanks guys L
  2. HEY, THANKS FOR READING MY POST. I AM A FULLY QUALIFIED TIME SERVED ELECTRICIAN FROM THE UK COMING OUT TO OZ IN OCTOBER ON A 12 MONTH WHV, I HAVE ALL CITY AND GUILD CERTS HOWEVER I DO INTEND TO GET A ARTC AS SOON AS I CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO FILL THE FORMS OUT JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE THEY COULD SHARE WITH ME OR ANY CONTACTS FOR WORK ETC? I DO HAVE A CV IF ANYONES INTERESTED. THANKS
  3. hi,looking for a pommie spark who's jumping through the hoops to get the license.i know what a pain that can be,can help out with the log book etc.job is on solar installs, its basically racking and panelling the roof and a bit of wiring.no license needed as you would be classed as a T.A and under my supervision.starting around middle of august.message me with phone number and a brief description of experience back in the motherland.
  4. Hi guys Has anyone out there already done the vetasses assesment and obtained an offshore technical skills record? If you are in the catagiory of general electrician does it state ; Offshore Technical Skills Record in relation to units of competancy within the certificate 3 in electrotechnology electrician ? The reason I ask this is that we are in process of applying for skilled independant skills assesment I have emailed the department for energy and in order for them to issue me with an unrestricted license ( therefore go self employed) when I get there once having sat the 2 week training course, the Offshore technical Skills record, issued by VETASSES must state the highlighted text word for word, else there may be restrictions imposed on a potential licence they give you so if anyone has gone through vetasses as electrician (general) and got a certificate from them can you confirm if it reads this or not? tried ringing vetasses but only oz contact number thanks for the help guys if anyone wants to know the process for obtaining licence quickly in wa then let me know as the dept for enery has emailed me the step by step process and its really helpfull cheers lloyd

    spark working in Gold Coast

Well moved from N.Ireland about 7 weeks ago, got a job in my first 3 weeks after alot of looking around. A word to the wise to all sparks, when you do get a job, and you can get work without having your licence ,you just will not get the full rate, they treat you like you have just come out of school, and is really starting to P me off. from go get this, bring me that, no dont do it that way, and on and on. Being a spark for more than 20 years. i have had to bite my tounge a few times. So you just have to get your head down and get on with it, also make sure you get your blue card. same as our CSR card. Good luck and see you in the playground. Greg.
  9. Hi everyone, just a word of warning this is my first message, so appologies for my bad English. My wife and I have applied for skilled visas 157 ( 21/10/07) on the basis that my wife is the main applicant due to her being a fully qualified Nurse as her skills are in demand more. Can anybody give me some advice about which industry is best suited for me?? as we intend on moving to Perth don't know where excatly?Iam time served electrical maintenance engineer AND HAVE ALWAYS WORKED IN THE FMCG industry.I have completed NVQS 1,2 & 3 during which I completed a BTEC ONC in Electrical/Engineering.I then went on to complete a HNC in Mechatronics. I have been told that I can only apply for a 'A' Electrical Trade License on arrival is this true?? Kind Regards A very stressed sparky John:unsure:
