  1. I've had a search and couldn't spot this question asked before. My wife and I are planning to relocate to Australia. She grew up in Australia and holds Australian citizenship. Looking at the calculators for points for Skilled Independent visas, I could take that route, or I could apply for a partner visa. Based on a quick bit of research, there are obvious differences both in the cost of the application and the processing times. I understand that with the Partner visa, it is possible to first apply for a sub-class 820 Partner Visa (Temporary), which would allow me to travel to Australia and permit me to work there sooner, whilst the 801 Partner Visa processes. I assume that there is no equivalent for the Skilled Independent visa. So - if I have eligibility for both options, what are the pros and cons of taking one route versus the other. I've spoken to two different friends, one who did it one way, one the other way. Interested to know if anyone has thoughts on which is the best way to approach things. The processing time is a potential issue, which is why I was looking at the 820 temporary visa.
  2. My husband and I (along with children) are very keen to emigrate to Australia from Northern Ireland. We have looked at the independent skilled migration visa and my job is on the list - Primary Health Organisation Manager. I am a GP practice manager with 5 years experience, 31 years old and have recently graduated with a level 5 diploma in primary health management. When I completed the VETASSESS application, it has been returned as a negative outcome as it says I need a bachelors degree. My husband is 41 years old and is a Scaffolder (owns his own company). He is also an Irish league footballer and is due to complete his UEFA coaching badges this month to open more avenues if possible. I am also a part time singer and own a well established wedding band in Northern Ireland and as a couple, we lease a pub/restaurant so we both have experience in this industry too. We don’t know what other avenue we can go down now that the VETASSESS has failed. Any advice would be great.

    189 skilled Migration Visa Inquiry

Hello all, I got my Invitation on 27 March based on my 60 points (which had my pte and skill assessment from cpa). My agent lodged the visa on that day, we booked the medicals following tuesday. So the date was around 3rd April. I already have my pcc and afp from my TR visa. Since my pcc and afp was just lodged last year, so its not been a year for both and my tr is still in effect till early next year. Meds were updated already in 5 days. All other relevant documents needs for 189 has been submitted. How long do you think i should wait for the golden email? any chances of Direct grant early or i must wait for some time. Since many of my friends got the visas in 1 month- 50 days period. Please advice. Thanks

    2 EOIs for 189 and 190 visas

Hello, I submitted EOI for 189 and 190 visas. I have already got invitation for 189 and applied for state nomination from SA. Today SA immigration refused application saying that My queries: I dont know why they could not locate my EOI. I checked several times and found EOI ID is correcr. Is there any possibility that it happened because of 189 visa invitation? In this case, can I submit another EOI for 190 visa only as my current EOI is locked for 60 days because of 189 invitation? For some personal reasons, I prefer applying 190 over 189. I need one more info please. If I do not apply for 189 visa after getting this invitation, will it affect if I apply 190 or 189 later on? Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Best regards, mwn
  5. Hi, My husband is in the process of applying for a skilled independent visa and we're just waiting for his skills assessment to be processed. We've just heard today that an international company based near us in the UK (that he has some links with) is desperate to recruit staff to move over to Australia for an urgent contract. He has the skills they need and they want people asap. A skilled independent visa is likely to take months to process but we would want to be on a visa that made us permanent residents straight away rather than a temp visa. Is it possible to move over on some sort of temp visa to start work while continuing your skilled indepenent application from over there? It would be ideal for us because they would pay relocation costs but obviously we don't know if they'd consider somebody not actually working for their company already so it could be a long shot. Any advice would be appreciated before we contact them tomorrow! Cheers.
  6. Australian Skilled Immigration Reforms 2012. Reforms to Australia’s skilled migration program take effect on 1 July 2012. Included in these reforms are changes to points tested skilled migration visas for migrants who wish to live and work in Australia without employer sponsorship. Simplifying eligibility requirements, the changes include the introduction of three new points tested skilled migration visas: Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa Skilled Regional Sponsored (subclass 489) (provisional) visa.
